Alright, so just recently I've had a strange knocking/flapping sound coming from the car. I've yet to pinpoint where it's coming from but oddly enough it only happens when I'm coasting. If I'm accelerating the sound is gone and if I'm braking it'll go away as well. Has anybody had a problem like this or possibly know what it is or how to fix it?
TIA

sounds like a cv or wheel bearing going out. under torque load from accel or decel they are sprung and make no noise, under free cruise they are unsprung and can wobble and move about. i'd take a good look in that area.

sound clip would help. But i just had an issue with a flapping noise when i would come off the accelerator. when sitting in park if i rev'd up the engine and let off i could hear the flapping. It ended up being the wastegate on the turbo flapping. The stealership had to replace the whole turbo...but for an $85 CPO deductible i wont complain!!!
See if you can get that noise to happen when the car isnt moving.

Old thread but what was the issue?! I am having the same problem right now and its driving me insane. I thought maybe it was my cracked belly pan flapping up in down in the wind so i took it off and sure enough that wasn't the issue.. Please help!!!

Sorry for the late reply cfiore, I figure you've probably already figured out your issue but for anyone else reading this it did turn out to be the wheel bearing.
