this is my first vehicle with leather, and i've had about enough of it. i don't mind getting into a cold car. the heat i cannot stand. i was thinking about getting custom made seat covers. I also ride my mountain bike in the woods and i feel sorta weird getting the leather dirty. http://www.wetokole.com Was the brand i was considering. I've had them on a previous vehicle, they fit like a glove. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe i'm not cut out for warmer weather haha.

Well, I live in FL. with leather and I'm fine with it. If it were me, I'd just stick it out....That being said, I had some wet okole covers for my MX-5 and they were fantastic. Material was nice and the color (red) held up perfectly under the Florida sun. From what I remember, the seats got plenty warm though and held the warmth....But, if you're worried about ruining the leather, go for it.

Just tint your windows. I have black on black and even on the hottest summer days my interior never gets hot.

can you just use regular tint? cause ive been hearing alot lately that you need ceramic tints (or whatever they are) to keep out the heat

In Oklahoma where I live currently it gets over 100 for most of the summer so I feel your pain. And my car unfortunately bakes in the sun for 12 hours a day while I'm at work. But my 35% tint and one of those reflective windsheild things keeps it a decent temp. I mountain bike as well and hate getting in the car dirty that's why I keep a towel in the trunk I can sit on if i'm dirty.
I think you'll find the reference to "ceramic" as apposed to "metallic".
Metallic tints interfere with cell phone reception. In fact, the stock windshield tint is known for messing with those bridge or toll passes if you put the sticker up in that area.
OP, sorry to hear your frustration. I went leather almost 20 years ago, and have insisted on it in every car since. But then, I'm up north. Easy to maintain, easy to clean.

I had tint on my front windows, but had to remove it due to the popo. It makes a hell of a difference!
I'm looking to get something like what Soul has ^^

I wish I could put my tint back on. Just another reason to get pulled over.
I'm with some of you guys about wanting A/C in the seats.

My last Saab 9-5 Aero had ventilated a/c seats. The IS 200/300's also have them. Tint is the best option though. keeps the sunlight out.

I really dislike leather and I still miss the cloth sport seats in the 01 A4. Definitely firm seats and excellent support.

There have been a lot of good ideas such as tint and window shades. Another one I do is close the sunroof cover....seems to keep out a good amount of heat and it keeps the shift knob from burning the gear pattern into my palm

one thing im doing is getting this tint film that has uv protection which will block most of the heat out.

Your problem is the sun, so block it. Window tint and granny windshield shade do the trick for me.

Looks dumb but works wonders... most of the taxis over in Taiwan have some sort of bead covers on the seats. They're not all those obnoxious wooden beads either. Some actually look alright. I couldn't believe the air circulating around my boys when sitting on one of these with a leather seat. Actually made me consider getting some for my A4 (black interior) and my Titan (dark gray interior). Front tint is illegal here. :(

Cursing on the way home how the leather seats felt like I had the heated seats on and I actually checked twice on the way home from work that the heated seats weren't on!
Usually I leave a the sunroof tilted open to keep a bit of air moving while it's parked at work, ah, miss the underground parking.

I usually do the same thing in my car with the sunroof. I sometimes wonder if I accidentally left my heated seats on as well. It's also a fun trick to play on your buddies when it's hot.
I fell you on those 01 sport cloth seats. They were amazing

I use that windshield thing too

Ceramic will do MUCH MUCH better than regular tint. I've had ceramic on my Audis for years and I will never go back to the cheap stuff. With ceramic you don't have to go as dark to get the same or better kind of heat reduction versus regular tint. Combine this with a windshield sunshade and you will never burn your ass on the seats again.

Remote windows ftw!
I roll mine down a few minutes before leaving from home/ work. Makes it a lot more bearable.

I ordered Audi windshield shade from ECS. Thank god its been pretty temperate here. I have tint but don't think its ceramic. its Madico ON-20, onyx? not sure. Next time i'll get the best heat blocking. I was more concerned with aesthetics.

Without reading through the topic:
Tint the windows.
Keep the sunroof closed.
Use a sun visor for the windshield.

I keep my sunroof tilted open, and the shade slightly slid open. Lets some of the heat out.

The best tint to get is 3M tint which works the best to block heat and sun damage. Its a little bit more $$ but definitely worth it. The problem with ceramic tint is that it can disturb the waves needed for navigation or sat radio because of the material in it.

What is your source of info?
It's metallic paint that disturbs nav/sat and radio. Huper Optik and FormulaOne Pinnacle are the two best brands out there that have been pretty much universally praised, however 3M does have a ceramic line. I've had both Huper and FormulaOne and the heat reduction is phenomenal with no interference whatsoever.

Do this except tilt the sunroof with the interior shade closed. The vents in the shade let the hot air out. Your car will be nice and cool.
