If a 2.8 30v was straight piped after the cat.

Basically just cut out the resonator and run a pipe out.
??? Kind of curious.

You will lose a lot of power. Also its extremely obnoxious. My flex pipe was broken on one side and I was scared I was going to get pulled over....This is in Indiana where its actually kinda legal.

I'd run a pressure actuated exhaust cut out. Open it to straight piped as soon as the exhaust pressure is over a set limit.

For a daily driver? I'd hate to be in the car on the freeway.. Throw in 1 muffler and 2.5" (or if you want LOUD 3") and be done.

yeaaah. Andyrew, that was my thought exactly. I have a friend that is willing to bend cut and fab an exhaust for me. all I need to do is get piping and a muffler.

Should I just leave stock cats and what not? ALSO should I worry about my o2 sensors?

Just realize that even with superchargers we don't put that high a flow exhaust on. You gain a tiny bit at the top of the RPM's but you lose a decent chunk of your low end torque.

i had a 2.8 with 2.5 straight pipes catback to a magnaflow 14816 and it was to loud.(people would make excuses to not ride in my car). ive since added a magnaflow straight flow resonator which killed some of the drone but not enought. im considering adding another resonator to get rid of the last annoying drone. i couldnt imagine 3in straight pipes on a 2.8 no mufflers that would be so damn loud.

yeah I see what you guys are saying. What would be the best route?
I want something that sounds Chunky without a loss of low end.

I'd say keep your stock resonator and replace the stock muffler with one of your choice. I like magnaflow and flowmaster.

I have a 2.5" pipe from cat to a flowmaster. I've had a number of compliments on it. Not to loud. No obnoxious drone on highway. Now I need to find a nice tip setup.

Dam, I was thinking about this exact set-up. I want to get rid of my stock res, but if the Magnaflow is too loud what should the stock one be replaced with?

Anyone running a Flowmaster center or some similar chambered set-up like this?

I have it on my 1.8t. I regret how loud it is, and how many tickets I have gotten not even driving like an A-Hole. You will like it for the first week, and every time someone gets into your car for the first time.

Hope that helps,

Best regards,
Sean.

You have a Flowmaster mid? Is it obnoxiously droning inside the car or just loud from the outside?

I run straight 2.5" from the cat to the muffler. I've had it for the past year and have not gotten sick of it at all. The neighbors hate me for it cause I leave for work at 6:30AM every morning but it's whatever. It sounds very deep and the backfire is also very nice. I say do it. Oh and I'm also 2.8 30V

Yeah thats what a buddy suggested to me. He told me that if I get the muffler and piping he will do all the fab work (bending, cutting, welding) but I dont know how much exp he has.
Right now.. I have straight pipe from resonator and it sounds pretty mean along with my intake. Sounds deep.

Will going straight back from a cat to a muffler result in low end loss? Should I add a few extra bends?
