Another sad victim!
Today my car was totaled, its been a ruff 12 hours but im getting on with things.
Anyway, my car was parked on the side of the road per usual outside my dads business. I parked perfectly again, per usual. I was inside talking with the employees when we heard a loud crashing noise. Went outside and saw exactly what i did not expect. My car was pushed a good 40 ft down the road. I had it in gear and with the parking brake on.
As far as i understand the 82 year old guy went into a diabetic shock, passed out and plowed into my car at 40 miles an hour. He hit my car launching it down the road and then he bounced off the telephone poll. His airbag didnt go off surprisingly. And he went to the hospital but was looking alright. Anyway.
Ill be loosing alot on this one, new motor, ko4 and such, but hopefully with receipts ill make a claim that is adjusted for the value of the parts that were on the car.

Im not too good with posting pictures so if i screw up please help!

O.O holy shit, thank god you weren't in the car. Insurance adjustments are usually pretty good as long as you have the receipts if not, show them the receipt, and buy a blown k03/swap it in and sell the k04 etc.

I havent gotten that far yet, I am a college kid and need to stay "reasonable" with my choices and what not. But i would like a s4 b5 just because i havent gotten used to any other body styles yet. Maybe a b6 wagon.

I have my old k03, but i dunno if its worth it for me to go to the holding lot to pull a 30k mile k04. I jacked the ecu boost gauge and rs4 grill. The only thing really left to easily salvage is the awe dts. The motor i just have to hope to get return on from the insurance company.

Oh and by the way, my car was parked where the nose of the firetruck was. He hit me that hard, and the car stopped as such with the handbrake on and in gear. Amazing stuff. Chevy def. built like a rock. or w/e that old advertisement was.

It seems like theres some decent amount of stuff on that car you could always part out. Wheels headlights fmic, motor, etc (if the option to buy it back is REALLY small after the check, I would look into buying it back and parting a lot of that stuff) I know that I'd be interested in the headlights

Yeah, see what they want to buy it back. You can probably get it for less than the cost of that new engine.

Sorry for your loss, though. I don't know what I would do if somebody ran into my car. While it was parked, no less!

Glad to hear that you're OK. I have those concerns everyday, just think if you had a custom widebody or RS4 conversion. Insurance doesn't care.

Not to be a vulcher or something, but if you'd like to part out some body panels, I need a front drivers side fender.

Wow that sucks dude. If you buy back the car from insurance you will make out on the deal if you part it. Assuming you have the time to pull it apart.

Wow, that sucks hard man, I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me. The same thing happened to a guy I autocross with, an old driver had a stroke and just demolished the whole side of his cooper-s. He had it rebuilt, wheels refinished, and then a month later the wheels were stolen from his apartment's storage. Shit luck.

Good luck with the part out, and enjoy whatever comes next!

this seems to be a common motif sadly. My aunt got rear ended on a highway offramp at 65 mph by an older man that went into diabetic shock. all involved were ok, but its scary to see that. what if if were a guy on a motorcycle?

I got rear ended buy a guy in older style mercury version of the crown vic. It was in my moms truck, and if the hitch wasn't there her truck would of been toasted. He hit me so hard that I had my foot on the brake pedal and still moved a couple of feet. He slammed into me at like 25-35 mile an hour. I braced up just in time because I saw it in the rear mirror. I feel your pain man that car was so clean and sweet.

at least the dude is okay. i know it sucks that your baby got ruined but you'll make out fine in the end.

i would part it as im already interested in some of your parts. lol wheels and k04 dibs if you choose to go that route.
