Would it require running an aftermarket radiator since some of the hoses have the locking flange? A google search revealed a company in China who will make them for the A4 if there's an order for 10. Any thoughts, interest?

you're right near us. Well, actually 3 of the guys from the shop are from Hampstead. Either way, why do you want silicone? I think those locking connectors can be separated from the hoses

cool, i've seen some new audis driving around, i wonder if any belong to them. anyway, i have the impression silicone would last longer.

silicon is a lot more temperature resistant than the regular rubber hoses, it definitely won't hurt switching over.

i dont think its worth the trouble, just keep it oem clean and use the right parts, unless your building a show car theres no need to have silicone hoses, oem hoses last very long ive got 170k on my hoses and not a singe sign of a crack

cool, maybe i'll just stick with stock. however, i'm pulling the engine which is allowing for a close view, and the heater core and oil cooler hoses are showing cracks. just for reference mine is a '99 with 130K. since i'm replacing the engine i figured it would be a good time to replace other things as well.

Yep. Plenty of other places to spend money on these cars. I wouldn't worry about the rad hoses.

And beware of the chinese made hoses, they look and feel ok but the fit sometimes has issues.

Beware of anything made in China.

right, but that's where they'll come from. there's a guy on here who is stage 3 with complete china made silicone plumbing and is satisfied. i know the risk as well. this car is forever and i don't want to have to go this far into the engine bay again for a long time.

no problem, i searched like crazy but can't find anything. i may just replace certain ones with silicone and possibly fabricate something in the future.
