Hey guys, I know there has been quite a few posts in the past regarding the VMAXX coilovers.

I've done quite a bit of searching on Google, and here on the forums and most posts I found were very outdated, so I apoligize in advance for posting this again.

I'm looking to purcahse some VMAXX's for my A4, but am still a bit uncertain. The price is certainly good, but I've heard some things about the ride quality and build quality. I think no matter where you search on the internet you're bound to hear some horror stories about any product, in any price range.

I'm really on the fence namely because I want the A4 lowered, slightly improved handling, but a stock like feel. I don't want too hard or too floaty of a ride (if anything, a more stiff ride would be better over the jumpy, squishy feel)

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these coils running on their ride for an extended period of time. I have no interest in tracking the car or doing any serious racing, it's more of appaerance and SOME performance. I can't help but feel like HR and Eibach's are a bit more than what I need here, seeing that they'll only be used on the streets.

I live in PA where it gets quite cold, and the adjustable level is something certainly preferred. I knew there were some complaints with the rear not looking, or feeling low enough. I'm hoping/wondering if these issues have since been corrected.

Thanks so much for your help AZ! It is MUCH appreciated!

Mark.

im in the same boat as you, i have been looking in the vmaxx coils for quite some time. i am making my decision soon, im leaning on getting them also. they come with a 2 year warranty and get the car low. from what i heard is they don't really improve much handling and they feel like stock like you said. i am a college student that just wants my car to be lower and don't wanna pay alot. so i am thinking of getting these coils

It's nice to see another east coaster here as well, with our winters, and roads, I'm hesitant with possible issues we may be having, none the less, I'm looking forward to seeing what we'll see here from our members! :D

They come out to like 650, get some used H&R's or springs. My boy has them on his B6 S4, that shit is all types of bouncy. Then another guy I met at a gas station had them on his MKIV Jetta said the backs blew out within two months. But they replaced them. I wouldn't ride them where there are bad roads.

Yeah, I heard someone else had them blow out at 8 months. My buddy whose a diehard VW tuner and will be helping me with all my stuff said the EXACT same thing about the bouncy ride quality.

I figure by the time you do whatever you can to stiffen it up, you're ending up so deep in cash you might as well have bought HR's or Eibachs.

well i have been told they they are real bouncy only when you have them to low. if you have them set at a decent stance and not to low than its fine

I don't have these personally but a buddy of mind had them on his B5 A4 four about a week and he sold them. They use the stock spring rates, which is fine at stock height. You can't go real low if you don't want a stiffer ride. Think about it, if the suspension is as soft as stock and you lower the car 2-3 inches it is still going to bounce up and down over bumps as much as the stock suspension would and you will be smacking the ground all the time. I have KW V1's on my B5 A4 and they are pretty stiff, the sub frame of my car is at the most 2" off the ground and the only time I really bottom out is on curbs pulling in and out of places or if the road has a high center. The ride is a little harsh because the suspension is more stiff, but if I had close to stock spring rates id be bouncing off the ground constantly. My advice is to stay away and save up for a little while longer for something nicer.

i don't have a set either, but a buddy of mine had them on an MKV VW and they had a pretty rough ride, especially if you drop them all the way down. i've heard of overall quality issues as well regarding lifespan. if you want to go lower get a set of springs and shocks for about $550 that will last a really long time, give you a great ride, improve handling, and still lower the car significantly from stock height. is it really worth spending $600 on VMAXX CO's when you'll need to spend the same amount or more again within a couple of years to replace them?
