So for shits and giggle i half assed on my spare today to see how the glossy black would look and i like it so I decided that I'll do it over but nicer (a lot of wet spots and such I guess I was holding it too close?) good for a spare but i want to practice before i do my daily driver rims (VMR 708's)
Now i have some bookmarks on rattle can painting my rims but i have questions.
1. It seems that usually 400-500 grit is the choice to sand before painting. Truth? Or should it be more harsh?
2. How many cans do you really need?
I'll be using krylon flat black for inside(not sure if ill really need this one as rims are already black there and gloss black for the outside
3. When I paint, do i just make say one pass per each side of the spoke, wait till try and keep going like that until they eventually turn black?
4. How would i go about fixing the curb rash? Do i just keep rubbing that 400-500 grit until its mostly smooth or do i take something more harsh?
I tried on a sandpaper looking kind of ending to a small dremel I have and went around the edges and it seemed to work but seems like a long process.
Any ideas? I noticed in one of the bookmarks the person used some sort of spot filler?
Planning to do this tomorrow.
