So, as the weather has turned hotter, I was getting overheating in traffic or if I left the car idling for an extended period of time, say 15-20 minutes. As soon as I would get on the highway, temps would drop to below "normal". I bought a new thermostat and when I went to replace it, the old one was gutted so it only had the disc and o-ring, no thermostat. I put the new t-stat in, car actually runs better and I haven't overheated yet, stress yet because I haven't been in a situation to really test the fact yet but with an open t-stat, I shouldn't have been having overheating issues right? If anything, it should have just not warmed up properly. So I am looking for other possible causes, I don't think it's the water pump because I can feel coolant flowing threw the coolant hoses. I am at a loss.

Also, could someone tell me where the temp gauge needle should be and what the two little dots are towards the "hot" side of the gauge? Is this where normal engine temps are supposed to be or something?

Also, when I do overheat, my oil temps do not go way up, just the temp gauge and I'll start boiling my coolant and in extreme cases, the overflow tank will start to spray coolant out the filler cap.

Any help appreciated!!

TIA

Oh, couple side notes. The radiator fan does come on when the car starts to get hot, just doesn't seem to help enough. Also, car has A/C deleted so, no A/C fan on radiator. I am also running an Apikol FMIC so, not sure if this is blocking flow to the lower radiator and preventing the fan from working properly?

Been thinking about sourcing an A/C fan and wiring it to a switch so I can manually turn it on if I am getting hot.....

I think your fan is #$&*^$!

We are in the mid 90's and my car does not get too hot...not even close!

I let it sit at idle yesterday after work and it overheated, fan did not come on at all, it used to come on though. So, I guess my fan is toast.....
