thinking of buying an S8

Hi guys ill been looking for a while for a S8, i might pull the trigger by the end of next month, i was researching for a 6spd swap but there is not much info on that, i know that in Euo the first year they came with a 6spd(1996) and the in 1997 the start with the Tiptronic tranny, the 1996 S8 use the 01E identificatio code DGV, and i was trying to se the difference between that one and the B5 S4 tranny which is 01E identification code DSY, please if someone has some more info please let me know Thanks Antoan

I traded emails with tozo from AW. He has performed a couple six speed swaps (01e from an b5 s4) and he gave me a list of things needed:
"You need a;
trans
Trans spacer
4.5" longer drive shaft
C4 manual axles
1.5" extension for the pass side axle
B5 S4 shifter with linkage ( need to extend the rods by 3.5"
B5 S4 flywheel, clutch, clutch hydraulic line
Clutch slave and master cylinder
You have to make your own clutch pedal
Trans mounths need to be modifyed on the subframe
You also have to do some wiring to keep the
CEL off." - tozo
I found a swap kit online from the european s8... i can't remember where but it was like 12 or 13 grand ... much cheaper to do the s4 tranny, more like 3 to 5 grand.
