Watap. [:)]
Coming from VW's, shaving the emblem was always a "must-do" mod for almost all generations. I've always loved the clean shaved look on most cars that I see.. and since I've been so used to seeing it, when I got my b7, it was almost instinctual to do it. I haven't done it yet though.. because after seeing and reading so many posts on here, I've realized that it isn't as accepted of a deal as it is in the VW scene.
I'm still on the fence. I frequent a bunch of european sites, and they seem to welcome the idea of no rings. I'll post a few examples of it below. This really can go either way for me.. as with anything, it mostly just depends on how you pull it off. Works on some cars, doesn't on others.
I've pretty much concluded that I am going to do it at this point.. only on the trunk. I have hardly seen ANY examples of no rings in the front, so out of curiousity I'd love to see more of that too. I really would just like to see more examples and see more of your opinions on the matter. Please post up if you have done it, or if you haven't, why you don't like it. Thanks guys, happy cinco de mayo to you all!

woah woah woah more pics of the first one NAOW!!
as for the rings, the rear is easy enough, just take em off the same way as the rest of the badging and if you don't like it just slap another set on.

I like the rings to stay on... looks naked without them. However I've refinished both my front and rear rings in a semi-gloss black to give them a more understated look
I wonder if that is bagged, or if the fenders have some serious ass roll. Kyle I considered taking my rings off for a long time, for me it just wasn't worth the effort, plus im already borderline murdered as is. The rings def give contrast.

I think the first car is the only time I've seen no rings and liked it. I'd have sex with that first car.

who cares about the rings, check that FITMENT!!
but seriously, i think it looks cleaner with it on. i feel that audis, although very similar to vdubs, are just classier than vdubs. (entirely IMO)

It's an Audi...I say flaunt the rings. You paid a premium for them.
But the first pic definitely looks good

Keep the rings - a normal debadge helps things to look cleaner, but removing the rings is just too much.

haha you guys crack me up.
Thanks for the opinions on the rings. See the difficult thing is... I agree with ALL of you! The biggest reason why I wanna leave em on is because they represent such class. But I like things clean shaven.. hmm. It's always reversible, I really want to try and make it work.
But what would really help is... MORE PICS! Anybody have ANY pics of shaved-ness?
As for the hi-res of that delicious metal model, I haven't heard back yet =( The guy I got the pics from doesn't speak much engrish and the site I found it through is in a different language too, so it was tough to figure out who the hell to talk to. Google translate hardly helps. I'll keep tryin for you fellas!

Quite the semi-contradictory comment. Are you saying the first pic looks like a pic of a VW? Because my friend, that is one fine Audi. If you were a math equation, you'd be calculus, because I don't get you. har har. Let's still be friends, it's not you.. it's me.
I figured there'd be more into the keeping the rings idea. But to be honest... that kinda makes me wanna take em off even more! [:D] I'll make em work. One way or another, it'll happen!
Looks like I gotta go lookin for more shaved pics to put up. No one's got any? I'll send you a fresh pineapple!

Makes no sense why you would want to take the rings off? The car looks generic then. [down]

I know what you mean, sort of like asking for opinions and then not wanting them. [:D]
Let me put it this way, despite the lack of rings on the car in the first pic, it looks great. That greatness is more attributable to other reasons than the lack of rings, but it does all work together.
I agree with you that shaving the trunk rings looks better than shaving the front rings. The B6 guys love to get rid of the front rings. I don't get that, the car turns into a Passat without them. The B7 doesn't have this problem as much, but it does make the car look more generic.
At the end of the day, it's your car, do if you like it. Not because the forum either likes it or doesn't.

Koby- awesome response man, exactly what I was looking to hear from people.. thanks. I totally understand what you mean [up]
Dangler- shaved like the cats back after shrooms; I'll have pics this weekend. Hopefully I make it work, otherwise they are goin back on.
I realized that my biggest issue in pulling it off on my car, is that it's red, and the taillights are red. I think that the tails are one of the biggest ways to make a shaved b7 rear work, because they are a main focal point of contrast. I DO have an idea for them too though... despite our incredible lack of options for aftermarket tails. That's not gonna happen before this weekend though.
Gorgeous pic btw, eskimo! Shit's clean.

Keep the fronts on, it look ridiculous without it. The rear on the other hand looks so f'in smooth. My wiper will be gone soon like TDi's...

Lmfao, nice analogy. But yeh, the rear is so well designed that it looks so fresh with no badges on the rear, unfortunately the B7 grill is so big it looks kind of retarded without them there to balance it out. It may be possible for the non s-line grills to work without rings, as the main slats are horizontal and the grill is slightly shorter (although this may also work against the idea since it is only the bottom half that is shorter). Photoshop time.

Ya know, that is a great point about this whole "pulling off" the shaved look deal. I think it totally works a lot more with the s-line trunk. I totally overlooked that! Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm pumped for the weekend now... gonna try to get a lotta stuff done on the car including this. I'll have some pics for you guys tomorrow after it's all done, then you can comment away. woot woot
And for anyone that posted the whole "do what you wanna do, it's your car".. of course I'm gonna do what I wanna do. It's just nice/fun/interesting to hear others opinions on things. It also helps to spark more ideas in my OWN head. There's absolutely nothing wrong with getting more brains on the subject! Now if I had posted a yes or no poll, with a "should i shave my trunk or no?", that'd be a different story.
Thanks for all the input fellas! Keep 'em comin, especially the pics part.
Lmfao, nice analogy.
At least someone got that!
A new study shows that young males these days dont even know what "Bush" is! These youngin's need to show some damn respect. Do you mf'ers realize the agony we had to endure for this to evolve into what it is today? You selfishly reap the fruits of what your forefathers had to toil and struggle with. Rug burn on your face is nothing to laugh about. Trust me pal, if you saw what I have in my early years, you would be shaving whatever you could.

Shave on, brother.
Is that why all the older guys I know have beards/staches? To cover up the permanent rug burn? I knew it. I knew it couldn't be just for looks. Jerry Garcia must have been a maniac in the sack.

I think it works just fine on a non s-line trunk also, so smoooooth and round....
i personally would just shave the rear, and keep the fronts.
