2006 Cabriolet Question

I recently lost a debate with my girl about her car. Maybe someone here can explain it to me.

Her 2006 A4 Cabriolet is really a B6, 1.8t, body style etc. It said it must have been a 2005, and she disagreed, pulled out the owners manual and BAM, I lose. Anyone know what Audi's rationale was, were they just getting rid of all their old 1.8t's?

They refresh the cabriolet line after the sedan/avant lines. I suppose because they need to do more engineering on the convertible body due to lack of a top.
