Post your quarter mile timeslips and I will compile them together in the first post. Please include any performance mods that you have.

Okay, I went to track.. and here are the results

I don't get why it's so slow.. best run was 15.6? Maybe because of the 90F?
My mods: Revo, 034 HFC

You have really high 60' times. 2.5 and 2.7 seconds. How were you launching?

i have tip so.. i just stomped on the gas on the last amber light. For once, I've tried brake launch at around 2k rpm, but didn't do it anymore because it will hurt the transmission.
What's the average time for 60' times for our cars?

90 degrees will destroy our car's performance. Literally destroy it. Just sitting in the sun waiting in line to run, you will get heat soak just idling the engine. When I dyno'd, from my first run to the third run, I lost easily 20 whp from heat soak. I can't give the exact numbers, I don't have my dyno sheets with me. Heat kills our cars, we need FMICs just with a small turbo.

TFSI

exactly.! my next mod will be FMIC..
but the thing is this 07 passat, stock had 15.1
why faster than me?

Fastest 1/4 mile time i ran was a 13.7 at 99mph with a 1.8 60'.... Cant find my slip but thats what i ran... thats with apr stage 2.... slammed with the stock 17s and with about 10lbs less air in the tire... also have full britalman exhaust and a test pipe.... I plan on taking it down the track soon... now i have a apr hpfp.... might see a better number who knows.... but the BT custom set up is in the works looking for 450-500 whp so i want to be in the 11s i hope... i think this is possible with the 35r and the right tuning with a fully built head

hey wezlo, how hot was the temp, how were you launching?
it was my first time going to track, so didn't know much about in details.. like 10lbs less air in the tire, does it make improvement?

I think it was around 60-70 out not sure... the cooler the better... i was holding the car at 4500k and dropping the clutch at green light.... and yes dropping air pressure in your tires helps... this means more rubber on pavement = more grip at launch

With Quattro the problem is too much traction which leads to bog and a slower time.

What rods, pistons, valves, etc.. are you adding to go with that big of a turbo?

When I used to go to the drag strip in the summers I would use a squirt bottle full of 70% alcohol (% doesn't really matter as long as its high) and spray down my intercooler right before going to the line.

TFSI

so.. spraying alcohol on the intercooler cools the engine quick?

I would usually just pour it into my oil reservoir...BIG difference

thats essentially what water/meth injection does for you automatically

you are quattro im assuming correct? because I cant seem to get my 60ft time under 2.3 on FWD

you are correct sir. Also if the tires just grab say bye bye to many tranny parts.

funny the trans isnt too bad in out cars... what im doing it sending 1-4th to get cryo dipped

Geoffafa
05-11-2010, 09:32 PM
how much is that gonna run you wez? the tranny cryo process?

wezlo
05-12-2010, 08:22 AM
cryo dip is only $30 a gear but the hard thing is taking the trans apart thats the pain in the ass

You ought to get better synchro rings and linkage while it's apart.
btw, I asked you a ? about 10 posts ago.... :)

yes

The spraying on the intercooler is what you do waiting in line to reduce heat soak. Injection is for when you are in action.

My third gear synchro is gone, and I plan on buying a tranny rebuild kit.
You mentioned getting better synchro rings and linkage.. Do you know
if/who makes aftermarket synchros? All I can find is OEM rebuild kits
and I don't want my 3rd gear synchro to just go again so I'd rather
buy aftermarket synchros if possible. Thanks.

Since I am getting a trans rebuild kit, I figure I might
as well cryo dip my gears before I get the kit installed.
Any suggestions where to send the gears to have this
done?

^ don't know. PM me if you find one. I'm sure they're out their. My 3rd gear synchro was bad for a month. Had the tranny fluid changed and not a problem since. I guess it got chipped or something and had a little piece of metal caught up in it. Just glad it's driving good now. But I will have to have it rebuilt eventually.

what's the deal with people effin up their transmissions? the B5 S4 was able to handle hard launches fairly well, and when their was a failure, it would be because of the shift collar - which eventually was updated(the shift collars) since so many people were having trouble. but gears breaking on the B7 A4? that's another new problem i've never heard of with B5 S4.

also, does anyone know what the transmission code is for these cars? the transmission in the B7 SHOULD be stronger than the 01E in the B5 S4..

No one is shattering gears,
So far at the dragstrip I have destroyed a stock clutch...
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx33/draklore/4c682034.jpg

And destroyed my third gear syncro...
It's kind of hard to get a good
Run at the drag if I can't make
It in to third gear.... Changing the fluid helped also jhm ssk helped as well, but if I am doing a hard shift 2nd to 3rd... Crunching and grinding occur after the 2nd orr third run down te strip... I
Suppose I could just take the car to the strip and make one pass...

But I need to
Figure out how turn off the traction a bit more, because the wheels spin pretty easy with the stage 3, from a standstill the cara solution is
To just cut fuel so I dump all boost on every launch

BlazinB5

that still sucks. the synchros should be able to handle more abuse than that [headbang]. B5 S4 did, and when they did go bad, the updated transmission parts for the rebuild would address the weak points and last a longggg ass time before any new problems come up. i think i remember a guy saying that he did like 20 hard launches before his 3rd gear shift collar went out on him (b5 s4).

My B5S4 friend lost his Third gear the same
Night same
Drag race... Luckily I can still drive and shift normal, he ha to order some collars and gears lol
