k so i have this manual boost controller... and my k04 / pc-16 / all the supporting mods is a lot of fun... but i am hitting 20 psi and am just curious how the car would feel at say 23psi or 24 psi

im not talking doing this long terms BY ANY MEANS ... i just have the mbc and want to give it a try...

i am going to a drag day with mnAudi forum people and want to break 15 seconds badly... and i am toying with the idea of trying this for that day.

i know its probably not a good idea, but for one day can it do catastrophic damage?

my friend boosted his k03 to like 25 psi and that thing FLEW haha... just sayin...

I feel like the pc-16 setup without the MBC can break 15sec, consistently.

I ran as much as 24-25 on spikes on the K04, and the turbo was basically at maximum duty 100% of the time. My car was FUN and pretty quick....but it lasted me about 5000k before I snapped the shaft. K04's don't like seeing boost over 20psi.

Yeah, I was thinking high 14's soon as I saw that too. Work on that launch! Take out your sub and spare as well.

ok i see what you're saying, but would one day at 23/24 psi be alright?

I personally wouldn't chance it. Its a known fact that the K04 spike can throw rods. Is one day at the track worth that headache? Plus I see you are wanting to go 2871 so you'll have your fun soon enough.

i would think sub 15 sec pass is doable. work on your launch for sure. 1.8 sec 60 foot times or better;)

^^ yes it will hold just fine. catch the lauch on the upswing of the rpm's... I generally catch the upswing with the rpm's anywhere from 5200 to 6000.. should be ok.

you will want to keep air pressure up as well (to try and get some wheel spin)...

just my .02 for what its worth

Lol at most posts on here. OP, you shouldn't have to worry about damaging anything (turbo, rods) with increasing the boost on a K04, especially if it is just for a day. I've seen many people run like 23-27 psi on their K04 without issues.

FWIW, i am running 25 psi on my 2871, and a stock AWM.. at 7500 miles and counting....

Is 2 second 60 foot pretty good for a stock 2.8? Thats what mine does. This was on snow tires................. lol

My R6, without a warm up or good drag tire, does a 2 sec 60 ft. So I say yes. All wheel drive is great!

Depends on the tune. Doing a quick pull in 1st and 2nd gear on the street is one thing, going to the track and pushing the car to the maximum for 15 seconds while running lean due to the increased boost... might not be such a good idea. Having a wideband would be very helpful in this case. If you are running too lean because of the added boost your car will just pull the timing and the end you might end up running even slower with the added boost.
