i just picked up some 6 pot touareg front calipers and some b7 s4 345mm front rotors.

i was going to start making the brackets. i have access to plasma, cnc, bridgeports etc.

but i was wondering how thick do the brackets need to be to bolt up to a 99 a4 upright??

the following thread shows the brackets but no info on necessary thickness etc.

any help would be appreciated.

17mm..

Cayenne calipers on a b5 A4, stock everything down there. Oh wheel clearance if you look at the brackets you see that the caliper mounts behind it, so the caliper is further inward, meaning it is 17 mm further from spokes than it would be on an S4 due to the bracket, so that's a benefit too

Clean edges, no burrs, no sharp corners, smooth radiuses. All of those contribute to strong parts with minimized stress risers.
