Hey guys,

Im looking to buy a nice yakima or thule roof rack since prices have gone down for the summer, and I need it for my skis in the winter. So my question you guys is, what exactly do I need to get a setup going on a 00 b5?

What are the measurements for the bars?

What about the OEM roof rack? any good?

Go Yakima
Get Q-Towers, Q72 clips, 48" bars, and a fatcat 6. Total cost ~$500. Also, spring for the 48" fairing!

I work at a sporting shop that sells Yakima AND Thule, install them ALLLLL day, and I can say that Yakima is BETTER.

I've used Thule for 13 years and love it. Guess you can't go wrong either way.

The crossbars are Audi and came with the car.
The bike trays are VeloVices, the fairing is I think a 444, and then a pair of front wheel carriers. Altogether I've got maybe 250 bucks into it and 150k miles of ownership. I'm making a carbon roof box and fairing for it over the next few weeks.

I have oem black roof rack that i purchased a few months ago from the dealership for 250 out the door....dunno why you'd spend 500 on a yakima or thule
