I haven't been able to find a thread about this so I hope I am not posting redundantly. Anyway, what do people use to clean the MMI screen? Everything I have tried (Window cleaner, electronics wipes, Armorall) leaves streaks.

Are there smudges or just dust particles?

I've had success using this stuff HERE (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Monster+Cable+-+TV+Screen+Cleaning+Kit/5774879.p?id=1069297113224&skuId=5774879)
However, with that said, mine seems to have some scratches on it that won't come clean with that cleaner. They aren't really scratches, but look like it.
That Monster cleaner works for finger prints and the like, but it is almost like I need a heavy duty cleaner or something...unless they are "scratches" in some sort of anti-glare coating that might be present, in which case, the previous owner screwed that up permanently.

They are definitely smudges. I will have to try that Monster stuff. I have seen it in stores. Hope your screen isn't scratched!

My recommendation. Smells really good. The description can explain the rest.

Navigation (SatNav) or DVD Screen
The screen is highly static and tends to attract dust like a magnet; so do not attempt to remove dust with a dry cloth. Use a damp 100% cotton towel and electronics `safe' anti-static cleaner (Kiwi Brands Endust™ for Electronics or Plexus® Plastic Cleaner, Protectant & Polish to remove light surface scratches) also works well on both computer monitors and television screens.
While the navigation system provides directional assistance, the driver must remain focused on safe driving behaviour, including attention to traffic and street signs. The driver should utilize the system's audio cues while driving and should only consult the map or visual displays once the vehicle has been stopped in a safe place.
For heavier scratches-
Plastic Polish
Plastic polish will not remove clarity defects that are within the plastic but it will remove external/surface scratching and oxidation (yellowing). Prior to application of a plastic polish ensure that the surface is clean and free from dust particles by washing with a soft cloth and warm water.
Use a plastic polish that is safe for all types of clear and coloured (polycarbonate) type plastics i.e. Lexan, Perspex, Lucite and most clear acrylics - Novus 1 2 3
Novus 1 - gently cleans all plastics without scratching, leaves a lustrous shine that resists fogging, repels dust, and eliminates static.
Novus 2 - removes fine scratches, haziness, and abrasions from most plastics (exceptional for removing scratches from Plexiglas). Use repeatedly and restore faded and discoloured plastics.
Novus 3 -removes heavy scratches and abrasions from most acrylic surfaces.

I used the following from Best Buy and it did this to my screen. Before this, I had a large smudge, but now I have these fine, thin scratch-looking streaks. I then returned the product and purchased the Monster cleaner mentioned above and it didn't remove the scratch-looking streaks. Do you think a plastic polish like Novus will remove these scratch-looking streaks?

1z einszett Cockpit (https://detailersdomain.com/1Z-einszett-Cockpit-Premium_p_70.html)would be what you should use on a nav screen.
what is wrong now is the coating on the screen is scratched up, you may need to polish all that off, if you do there no longer be a coating on the screen.

Plexus is the best plastic cleaner hands down. You can use it on flatscreen tvs, computer monitors. I used it on my motorcycles and helmets for years. The stuff is gold.. Expensive though.. Probably 15$ a can.

I know this is a long time bump, but I've actually found the Mr clean dry eraser works the best to clean my screen. Some gentle pressure was used , but the mmi screen never looked so good

I used this with a very soft microfiber class cleaning cloth. Great window cleaner, I buy it from my tint shop.

From your picture, these look like scratches in the top, non glare coating on your screen. This happened to mine and I did this. Your best bet would be to "remove" the non glare coating and install a non glare screen protector over it.

Not only looks way better than it ever did new but you can then actually clean it! [:)]
