Long story made short: I was the DD last night, parked in the public garage, came back out 90 minutes later and someone had tossed an egg at my driver's rear quarter panel. I cleaned it all up that night but there is some damage to the paint, probably from the impact. It looks like spider-webbing; the paint has lots of tiny chips and is discolored.
After washing the car today, I tried to smooth things out with ScratchX but it didn't do anything. Suggestions? Touch-up paint and then ScratchX to even things outt? I know it'll never look brand new unless I respray it, but that's not an option right now.

Egg Stains / Damage to Paint surface
As well as the impact damage, egg contains Albumin refers generally to any protein with water solubility) and amino acids that will actually erode the clear coat and eventually the basecoat if not neutralized / removed. If the affected paintwork is not neutralized any remaining acid residue will be reactivated each time it comes into contact with water (See also Reactivity)
Saturate the area with Isopropyl Alcohol and keep it ‘wet’ for 4-5 minutes with a soaked towel laid on the stain, do not agitate the surface. Flush with clean water and dry thoroughly. Inspect surface for cracking, discolouration or other damage with a 30X lighted magnifying loupe, use a chemical cleaner to remove any discolouration, and then a suitably abrasive polish to level the paint surface to below the level of the etching (an shallow indentation in the paint surface caused by an acid)Then apply a paint protection product. If the clear coat shows signs of failure (cracking) take vehicle to a professional paint / body shop.
After the paint surface has been subjected to a chemical cleaning its protective layer (wax / sealants) have been removed and the paint surface left without protection, so it is very important that a wax or polymer protection be reapplied immediately. To correct any surface marring / light scratching use a mild polish (Zaino PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner Swirl Remover, All-In-One (Z-AIO) or Menzerna Final Polish II) using a White or an Orange LC pad, PC speed 5 – 6

Like I said, I already cleaned the surface so now I need to fix the impact damage. The egg yolk or whatever itself didn't damage the paint, it was the impact that did it.

you can attempt to wetsand (2000/2500/3000 grit) and buff.. if not then respray

I would assume I should very carefully use the touch-up paint first, then wetsand. After wetsanding, should I follow up with something like ScratchX to even things out?

you should have a professional detailer do it... compund/polish/wax with an orbital

That's what I was thinking. I've got a thread in the Midwest forum to ask if anyone can recommend a shop.

upon that stage I'm afraid to say it's too late. Water sanding and compound can reduce the effect but most of the times it will remain quite visible. Sorry man.

Who just randomly throws eggs at cars in a parking garage, that's messed up.
Paint match with touch up then wetsand, (3M Trizact 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000) I would start with 2000 and move down to 1500 if not aggressive enough. Then polish with rotary using Menzerna SIP followed by final polish. Make sure to apply a few coats of the touch up paint and make sure it's completely dry before wetsanding. The damange really doesn't look too bad i wouldn't think that needs a re-spray.
