Spring has arrived!
(Actually if you're in the northeast, uh, it appears summer is already here)
so roll the windows down and enjoy the sound of your 'whip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0Cfm7YvRjM
Now 'hear' the best part- $1299
Heard a lot of concern from everyone about the cost of exhaust. Did what I could for ya!
This set up keeps your stock downpipes in place.
Set up in the video is a Non-Res with Black Oval Tips.
Resonated version is available as well - $1499.
Same power bump as before -
Dyno Link (http://www.stratmosphere.com/S4B8MILLTEKOVERSTANDARD1000.jpg)
Car featured in the video also has our Stratmosphere Short Shifter (http://www.stratmosphere.com/s4_b8.htm), and our well-loved (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?353309-Installed-my-stratmosphere-intake...) Stratmosphere Intake. (http://www.stratmosphere.com/s4_b8.htm)
ps. next time I will find a radio station in advance. enjoy!
I think it sounds better than the more expensive versions. The stock downpipes give it a nice tone coupled with the oval tipes.

Awesome pricing. Can you give us any info on the construction of the resonators?
edit: so help me out here... the resonators on the milltek are in the midpipes? Aren't most B8 systems putting resonators in the downpipes? Also, what's the downpipe diameter?
StratJohn

Ok, so its like this:
bone stock = downpipes with mini resonators built in, then a mid-car resonator, then two rear silencers.
This non-res = downpipes with mini resonators built in, then a mid-car resonator (milltek), and no rear silencers.
This res = downpipes with mini resonators built in, then a mid-car resonator (milltek), and two rear silencers (milltek).
The "full" systems are the same as above, but replace the stock DP's with milltek DP's and a front resonator.
Stock downpipe diameter is 55mm (roughly 2-1/8") and the Milltek bumps it to 60.5mm (roughly 2-3/8").
Thanks L0U, I pretty much wanted to spend the rest of the day driving around!!

Hmm.... that's really tempting. How loud is it on a daily basis... am I going to get tired of hearing it, or is it only loud when you're nailing the throttle?
So there's no way to get the oval tips unless you forgo the resonated pipes? I'm just worried about messing with my daily driver....

can you post a picture on the tips?
also, do you think it would be possible to get a picture of the exhaust outside of the car?

Either non-resonated version can be civil around town - it is significantly louder than the resonated when you get into it, but decent enough under 3k so that I'm not drawing attention to myself when I'm pulling up to my office or into home late at night. There is exhaust noise at 70mph and above as well, but it is apparent that it's exhaust noise and not cabin drone. If that concerns you, grab the resonated version.

Yeah, I don't want it too loud pulling up to my office or when I come home late at night. lol. My NSX has a titanium exhaust that sounds great when you're on it, but when you're not, you really don't even hear it. I kinda like that.... even on the highway cruising you don't notice it until you make a move.
I guess I can always go for the non-resonated and just see what happens... I imagine I could sell it local if I don't like it. Now... black tips or chrome. Hmmm.
How's Brother Wease doing? He still on the radio? BJ Shea is the Seattle morning host.. I grew up in Rochester.. went to UB.

So these are in stock and ready to ship out? Can I see a link to pics of the different oval tips? (black vs ss)
Also, which is louder:
Non-Res with stock DP's vs Non-Res with Milltek DP's.
How does the Res with stock DP's sound? (I don't think you have clips of that.. is it louder than Milltek DP's???)
(In other words, does the Milltek DP's make the exhaust louder or quieter or no change??)

Shipping will start after the weekend, I'm just finishing up some adapters to package.

Clips of the Res-on-stock is up next. In other words- the system is quieter inside the cabin with the milltek DPs.
Outside, I think its about the same. For comparison, here is the link to the milltek DP launch clip. (http://www.youtube.com/user/jtframe#p/a/f/0/TigUyxEhZBc)

Hey StratJohn,
Do you think you can post a pic up of the non-res setup outside of the car?
Thanks

I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on this now with the price drop. Couple of questions:
With Stock DP's its louder? wouldn't it be the other way around?
Is there any change in power with Milltek DP's?
Do the oval black tips cost any more? Have you done any black ovals on a meteor gray?
Could I see an oblique shot of the oval tips? I'm a little worried they are going to look obtuse from a profile shot, the stock pipes are cut to be slanted with the body shape, the oval is straight out, so I'm worried its going to look a little weird.
Thanks :D

Thanks :D My ovals are slanted to match the architechture of the diffuser similar to the stock slant, I may be able to get you some shots later on. I did drive my vehicle with both non -resonated versions. The stock downpipes for some reason DID seem a bit louder (not much) and there was a bit more of a purr. I have the full Milltek cat-back system, because the other option was not available when I purchased. My opinion is the black would look hot on Meteor, but I'm biased toward black tips. (easier to keep looking clean too.)

Yeah it seems like reverse logic with the Milltek DP's being a tad quieter? I also was worried about the ovals sticking out too much... if you can put more pictures up, that would be fantastic. I'm kinda wishing I could get the resonated with stock DP's and the oval tips. lol. Oh well.... any more opinions on how loud the car is??? Is it Harley loud or more modified Subaru STi loud? ;)
that would be qieter running 2 dual entry center muffler on oem downpipes with open free flow oval tips. cost would have to go up by the extra central muffler/resonator though. (this would have an overall effect on hp with the extra piece)
As for noise level, the 2 downpipe oem resonators must not reduce the volume as much as striaght pipe downpipes running their extra central resonator.
Power should be the same since the backpressure on these sytems stay pretty constant with mix and match pieces.
The biggest gains are high flow cats accompanied with any of these cat back systems.

Anyone wanna photochop a picture of the rear of a meteor gray with some black oval tips? tried searching for a plain rear pic, couldn't really find a good one :(
Mick could you post some pictures of the slant? :D

I asked this before in a different thread but didnt get a response.
Is the stock exhaust one single piece or is it multiple pieces that can be disassembled? The reason Im asking is because on my 04 A4, the exhaust was a single 9ft long piece and was very cumbersome to hide in the garage. If the S4 exhaust is in pieces, buying a new exhaust will be an easier decision.
Thanks.

Thanks. The stock system from cat-back is 3 pieces total = 2 down pipes from the cats, maybe 3ft long, and the rear 2/3 of the system is one single piece that bifurcates to the rear silencers. It's a bit of a beast, but not as bad as a single piece unit would be. I managed to transport my system home in a VW Vanagon and drag it up a ladder in my garage to the rafters by myself...

Rear section of the stock exhaust measures roughly 7.5 feet in length, just under 5 feet wide at it's widest.

Ohhh I think that the deal is what you might call sealed now. Thanks mick :)
Edit: Mick that is how those tips come from Milltek right? Because you said earlier "my" tips, and I'm not sure if you meant that you had customized them in some way.

Sweet!!! Anyone on the fence should have some good footage in a few weeks... That includes the intake!
Again, going with the FULL Milltek non res... so not the "special" their running on the stock DP one for anyone who's interested.

Zed 2.0 I'm working on that. I'm also working on getting the quads on the non-res.
drvolkl you're gonna love it.
NWS4Guy -what netbook are you running? I've got a mini9 running osx and an HP1030 running win7, also set for vagcom and whatnot. They're -technically- a little dated now, but I've got decent SSD's in both and they zip along.

I gave the mini9 to my wife, just not speedy enough for me, even after getting a 64G faster SSD. I have an Acer Aspire One (10.1" screen), I picked up from woot.com for about $170. It has the Atom 1.66Ghz dual core proc, and holds a full sized laptop mechanical HDD, so I popped out the RAM, took it to 2G total, and put a 7200RPM 80G drive in there. With the 6 cell battery and typical usage and wifi turned on, I get around 5-6 hours on a charge. Works great for most anything I need, and the slightly larger size means easier to type. Graphics chip is still very weak and Flash makes it crawl sometimes so in the near future I will likely get somethign with the new ION2 in it when this dies. For now it runs Windows 7 Ultimate with no issues though and can do Hulu and Youtube well enough to use.
