hi all,

I was thinking of raffling off my modded TT. i wanted to get an idea of the interest in this. I was going to do one of 3 options. 100 buyin withh 200 people, 150 buyin with 135 people or 200 buyin with 100 people. the reason for the limit is to give people really good odds. I wanted to do it local in San Jose and figured that i can find 200 enthusiasts who would like to gamble on getting a car for 100 bucks. I have just about 25k in mods on the car and it still passes smog. power output is 210 whp. the car is not perfect but just about. I wanted to do the raffle at a meetup and the winner drives away with the car or if you are online fly in and drive home, or ship the thing. I figure the buyin would last for a month and if we dont get close to enough people in time, everyone gets a refund. if you all are interested can you chime in. I wish i was more computer savvy buy i'm not so i'll have to set up a post on the car. heres a mod list.

body: shaved door handles and side markers, Seidl body kit with 2 tone black/ silver paint. tinted windows

wheels: Work Meister 3 pc. black/ polished with black lugs

Engine: timing belt done, Kinetic k04-001 with turbo inlet pipe. EuroJet Sidemount intercooler with full boost hose kit and pcv valve hose kit( just ordered and will be installed on the car), spec stage 3 unsprung clutch with fidanza flywheel, head replaced at 30k miles under warranty, as well as headgasket. new ignition coild with ecs hold down brackets, GIAC tune for the kinetick with 380cc injectors and audi tt 225 MAF and airbox. Car passes smog just fine with the mods. transmission was rebuilt at 60k miles by a reputable VAG shop in the east bay. (it had bad 3rd gear synchros )

Exhaust: Custom 3" downpipe with race cat made by BlackTrax in milpitas, Forge motorsports discontinued 2.5 inch exhaust for the TT225.

Suspension: Koni adjustable yellow kit with h&r springs. alignment was done and has adjustable strut tower mounts in front and rear control arms. all poly bushings in whole car.

Stereo: Pioneer nav double din with dvd bluetooth ipod, in custom made dash. Focal K2P 3 way setup powered by a Phoenix Gold TI900.7 amp and a PPI Flat piston driver from 1995. yes i said 1995. It is one good sounding sub.

Interior: custom lower dash for nav system wrapped in ultra suede. as well as all roof and pillars. Custom system in the trunk to display the amp and sub. Liquid TT computer in left vent to display engine data.

money wise i'll never come close to recovering all my investments, but more importantly i have too many toys right now and i've put 2000 miles in the last 2 yrs on the car. i just got a Q5 s-line i have a toyota truck a motorcycle and boats taking up my garage and driveway.

$200 x 100 = $20,000.

smart way to sell it so to speak. assuming you can get enough people to buy in.

"in this economy???!!!"

I think this is a great idea. I would definitely be interested in trying my luck out. But wondering how can someone be sure that it will not be "fixed"?

the raffle will happen at Walnut creek customs. before the raffle there will be a posted list with each name and a number 1-300 assigned to it. there will be 300 quarters with number written on them 1-300. in front of everyone that shows up the quarter will be placed inside a box and shaken about. then I will draw out one quarter from the box. That is it. anyone who lives in the bay area is more than welcome to come to the BBQ and watch the whole thing unfold. We will post a vid on youtube as well.
many people are buying tickets, many of them my friends, but everyone has the same odds of winning per ticket. also if anyone wants to volunteer and choose the quarter you are more than welcome to. or we can have 5 people draw straws to for who chooses the quarter. that way there is no doubt of cheating or a fixed raffle.

Hate to be a party pooper, but holding raffles in this nature is usually illegal unless you are a non-profit raising money for charity (as a raffle is considered a form of gambling and is heavily regulated). I'd check with your local attorney general's office to make sure you're not breaking any laws.

In any event, if you choose to go forward anyway, just be careful about where and how you advertise your raffle. Last thing you want to do is get arrested and/or have the proceeds from the raffle be confiscated.
