I've got a 2007 A4 with nav (RNS-E) and I want to connect my iPhone to the stereo. I've assembled a list of iPod/iPhone integration adapters, but there are no clear winners yet. I'm not crazy about the Dension Gateway approach: only 8 characters on the instrument cluster display for song info, and having to switch between ipod control and steering wheel control. The Dice units look more appealing, since they reportedly don't lock out the iPod controls while simultaneously using steering wheel controls, so I can use my iPhone to display the current artist/album/track.
Problem is that there are several different Dice units, and I can't get a straight answer as to which works best with the RNS-E. Some connect to the CD changer plug and some connect to the Satellite radio plug. Is one better/faster than the other? I don't care about keeping my CD changer or sat radio, and I don't mind getting my hands dirty with a more difficult install if it means getting a better setup.
Does anyone with personal experience with the Dice units and the RNS-E have any recommendations?
(BTW, I called Dice and they suggested that I wait a few months for the "i-VW/Audi-Sat" kit, which they say isn't yet available, despite the fact that several online retailers are currently selling it.) Arrggghh!
