So I was at Livermore Audi last week gathering info on the new 2006 A3 Sportback which will be hitting showrooms around May. They just recently begun placing official orders for these, as all Audi dealers across the Country have. Here are some pages I had photocopied as customer brochures aren't yet available.

Most importantly, here's a copy of the dealer's Vehicle Order Guide, so you can see what options are available with what.

Lastly, here's a bit of marketing material concerning the new A3 that they were giving away. Basically just a reprint of a write-up on the car from Motor Trend magazine. They apparently loved it! [:D]

Thanks again to Adam at Livermore Audi for the info. Yeah I'd prefer to have one with quattro, but I don't think I can wait for those to come out! [:D]

Any idea on prices?

No official word yet. They say it'll be around the price of the current entry level B6, as they're going to raise the price a few thousand on the new B7. Partly because of the A3, partly because of the weak ass dollar. [:(]

TDI - I would like to see the deisel options are friends across the pond have. And the price better be set right. If not, they better have their reliability right this time.

I like them a lot, for sure considering getting one, with quattro.

Great info Anthony! I'm liking the A3 a lot. I can't wait to test drive the V6 DSG Quattro when it comes out though.... that seems like a very nice version of it.

I don't see much hope for TDI here in the states. I think some 4 or 5 of the most populous states doesn't allow the TDI.
I don't see much chance of that changing too since there really isn't a viable option to meet the pollution requirements for these states for TDI engines.

Likely that will mean most european manufacturers won't even bother bringing any TDI versions over here at all since they're really not particularly popular.

Anthony

Pretty much just what you see here, for the States. Otherwise check audi.co.uk or audi.de for additional specs.

The main issue is the quality of diesel currently sold in the US market, the new gen of high performance diesels in Europe could not run on it. But the good news is that the diesel fuel is going to be improved to a better standard in the next few years in the US market. After that you can expect to see a lot of diesels being sold in the US by the german manufactures.
