So i have a b7 a4, and its brilliant black. Nothing is wrong with the paint, or body, i just like the look of these cars blue. Sprint blue or Nogaro. Now, ive been talking to a guy i was referred to by a person i work with. He quoted me between 2900 to 3500 for the entire car w/ door jams. Ive heard that some people that do a new paint job on their car (non maaco spray on) that it costs around 6k. Am i getting an amazing deal? or should i kind of wonder why is it so cheep?

I am by far no paint expert, alot depends on the layers of paint, quality, clear coat, etc... I would suggest a few quotes from any reputable paint shop.

Um for a good paint job changing color will be around 15 grand. Just for a good repaint the same color it cost me ten thousand.

Why don't you take that 10-15k to paint the car and buy a nogaro blue B5 S4? Then you have the best of both worlds....

You should of bought a Nogaro blue B6 s4 or sprint blue B7. If there is nothing wrong with your current paint then just sell your car and pick up another one in the color of your choice. With a full re-paint you get what you pay for. Like others have said, you can spend up to 15k on a really good paint job. It's not something you want to cheap out on. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. It's your car and your money.

Um yeah.... Sell the car and get something new. You are aware that you will hurt the resale value of the car once it is painted correct?

+1 on hurting the resale value dont do it
Average paint job is $6k-$7k and can be much higher depending on how much labor you want into it. Most of the labor is removing and installing everything as well as prepping. For a $3k paint job, my guess is they're masking most everything and using cheap materials. Any quality shop will guarantee their work for as long as you own the car.

Thanks guys for the imput... yea, i dont want to get a new b7 a4 or s4. I found this one for 4k under blue book, and its spotless!! An amazing deal, and i figured if i could afford the paint i would do it. IF not, brillant black looks amazing when its clean. haha, Looks like ill have a part time job keeping it up.
(ps i have some gunmetal v713's and coilovers ready to be put on early next week....) has nothing to do with paint, but im excited. :)

i can get a paint job for the same price range you posted, if not less. If you wanna repaint your car than go for it, just make sure the body shop does great work and will give you a warranty on the paint.
However, since the paint is flawless, might as well wait awhile before you do it. My car is pretty flawless, paint wise so I wouldn't reconsider a full repaint until something goes wrong with it.

Yea, now that i have the drop and wheels, ill do exhaust, but other than that, no more mods. Im saving for my weekend fun neck breaking car... (04 svt cobra) :)
Ill have my a4 for a while, so waiting is fine, IF i decide to do it.

Just keep it Brilliant Black, the color looks awesome. If/when you get rid of your car, think about getting a blue one for your next ride.

i don't know what you have done to your car, but i would hold off on the paint a while also. if your paint is flawless i wouldn't see any point in just painting it. the price you got seems pretty good, our shop has a paint guy that we outsource too and he can do incredible work for that price or even less, with factory quality paint too! the only thing is if that's a price you can hold on to than i'd say keep your car black for now until you get some scratches or decide to do some exterior mods like a bumper or sideskirts spoiler etc... that way you can paint everything and match all at once... bam like a new car all over again! i always try not to change things when they're mint, but that's just my 2 cents. good luck
