can you have an aux cable that plugs into the headphone port of a phone or ipod, rather than just using an ipod cord? i want to be about to plug in my phone and ipod because i dont have an iphone, thanks

yes, the gateway 100 has both ipod and aux-in ports.

The gateway 100 does not come with ipod or aux cable. You can buy the aux cable cheap enough at any store ($5), but you need the Denison iPod cable to have the iPod working. I believe both the iPod cable and the gateway 100 are on sale at Enfig ($34.99 and $144.99). As for text, the iPod text will be displayed on the DIS, but not on the HU, aux-in will not have text display. Just installed it like 10 minutes ago. Its a super easy job, even easier if you have small hands (which I don't). The sound is great, awesome control scheme. I have paired my iPhone with the car via BT, and I can still make/receive calls with the iPhone playing (it just pause the music). The only thing better than the GW100 is the GW300, which add a USB port for other players or USB drives. If you're still on the fence about it, go for it, and make sure you get it from Enfig.

now my question is, why doesn't it display on the HU[mad] i dont ever look at my spedometer for the song name on cd's i always look at the HU

Just installed mine a few weeks ago. I absolutely love it. I too wish it would display song info on my RNS E. But, it sounds amazing and was super easy to install. For sure buy from enfig if you go that route.

Enfig explained it in a tread before. It has something to do with SAT, because the only way to get text on the HU is to make the HU think iPod is coming through the SAT. But it's apparently really hard to do, that's why it isn't an option.

The OEM iPod adapter is an overpriced pos, it cost like $250, and won't even display text on the MFD(DIS). without text on the MFD, its really confusing to use....oh yeah, no aux-in either......

This is the best unit for an iPod and if you get the iPhone 4 like I did you just need a different cable. I love this thing!
