I've been offered a really good deal on a B8 S4 demonstrator. It lacks the sports diff which I would really like and is unlikely to be retrofittable, but it also lacks heated seats.

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit the heated seats? I have found wiring looms but don't know if the seats themselves have the elements in them, or if they can be purchased separately or if the switchgear can be retrofitted either.

Has anyone attempted this?

I doubt you'll find a retro fit yet, as the car is too new. But I'm sure it can be done... and it might be cheaper to go an aftermarket route as the sport seat heaters arent that great anyway.
Good luck!

Heated seats in Australia, now there's a question I didn't see coming! =)

You'll need a new AC controller unit to be able to control them (ebay.de), the 4 heated pads (dealer, supplier)2 per seat and the retro wire harness that you can get from Kufatec. Then it's a matter of programing in vag com. The Bentley shop manual as well for instructions for disassembly of everything.

There's not many places in Australia that need heated seats, and where I live (Adelaide) there are only a few hundred houses in the area that regularly gets below 0C (32F), even though in summer it'll get to > 40C (104F) for 7-10 days in a stretch. Serves me right for living in the hills. Problem is because it's so rare for people to want it, they're very hard to get optioned cars with them unless it's a special order. Current delivery dates are late August/early September if I want a custom build and there's nothing in country unallocated with seat heaters.

Sounds like it's feasible but complicated and expensive.

There's a couple of negatives about the demonstrator S4 - it has no sports diff, and also it's a 2009 build so MMI 2G only. I sat down with the dealer today and worked it through and it's not a compellingly good deal so I will have to think about what to do. He loaned me a A5 3.0TDI Sportback overnight this week and has one of those available as well which while different to the S4 in many ways is also much cheaper and very nearly as fast.

FYI in Australia, a basic S4 on-road is AUD$125,231 which at todays exchange rate is US$113,717.

You CAN add heated seats to the car .http://www.heatedseatkits.com/. But you can't add the sport dif. IMHO, the sport dif is what really sets apart the S from others and makes the car special. Just remember, a deal on a car that does not have the color combo and features you want is not a deal but a compromise.

If this and the Sport Diff are killers for you I would wait. There is not going to be any easy install on the SP, it ties into 3 unique sensors placed around the car for yaw/lateral G, ABS, and steerring wheel placement to determine how to react, not to mention you have to have the ADS buttons on the dash as well as the software for it on the MMI.

It's not like buying one and swapping out the rear diff.

The software seems to be there. I activated the program and even got a new screen on the DIS. Of course it doesn't do anything with out the lateral sensor module and the diff module. Agreed it would be a massive undertaking to try and pull something like that off. No where near the cost savings over buying the car you want in the first place.

If anyone can figure out the VCDS coding, you can David :)

I bought a leather alcantara seats which includes seat heating as well but I do not have the button on my AC controller panel.

So firs of all I have to buy a panel like this, right? : http://www.ebay.de/itm/Audi-A4-S4-B8-Klimabedienteil-Klima-Betatigung-Klima-/120504899984?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item1c0ea6d990#ht_1082wt_1163

I have a good friend who does everyting about my car's electronics so I talked with him and he added that we even need a new board computer to make them work perfectly. How can I get it? :o
