First off, a little background on my project. My car is a 2008 Audi A4. I have the Symphony II+ Radio. I also have the multi-function steering wheel, however I do not have Bluetooth and therefore when I push either the mode or voice control button, I receive a “No Function” message in my DIS. I also do not have the factory iPod adapter.
So, to remedy some of my car’s shortcomings, I have decided to integrate a head unit with built in Bluetooth as well as voice control. In doing so I would like to retain use of my car’s steering wheel controls. After doing some research it seems to me the consensus is that the Connects2 CTSAD002 would be my best choice. However, I have a few concerns about this working.
First, will I need to enable the mode and voice control button through VAG-COM? I see on Ross-Tech’s web site that under [16] - Steering Wheel, I have the option to adjust the coding as follows:
Coding
0?xxx: Steering Wheel
o 0 = Standard (without Multifunction)
o 1 = 3-Spoke Steering Wheel (Sport Steering Wheel)
o 2 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio Control
o 3 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio/Telephone Control
o 4 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio/Telephone/Voice Control
o 5 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio/Voice Control
Second, will the Connects2 steering wheel control interface allow me to make use of these buttons? Of particular interest to me would be to push the voice control button and have it activate the voice control functions of the aftermarket head unit.
When looking at the available pdf on the connects2 website:
http://www.connects2.co.uk/Instructions/SAD002.pdf
It appears the mode button is used to change sources; however it does not give any information about the voice control button. If the Connects2 unit will not work in this way, is there one that will?
Thanks for any information!
