View Full Version : stasis or awe exhaust
I would like to buy either awe or stasis exhaust. I just want to ask you guys which one would you prefer and why.
Thanks

I bought stasis because the AWE exhaust is notorious for being very loud, with major drone.
I believe they worked on a solution for a while and AWE exhaust owners can help the problem by modifying something or changing a couple of pieces in the exhaust, but we'll have to let one of the AWE owners chime in on that
on a side note, im still looking for a Stasis downpipe so I haven't had mine put on yet [headbang]

My vote would be for STaSIS.
I can't stand drone.
But, I do like the quad look of the AWE.

Me too - I'll be putting quad tips on my stasis though, it can be done!

I just installed my AWE quad tip last week. All I can say is that there definitely some cabin drone, but not to the point where I want to put the stock exhaust back on. Besides, the exhaust tone sounds great IMO!!

I've been in A4's with both STaSIS and AWE exhaust systems. Both aftermarket systems to produce drone, however it's much much more prevalent and noticeable with the AWE exhaust. I was surprised at how loud the drone was compared to the STaSIS exhaust.

Depends if you are going to upgrade to a TP or HFC...
Stock Cat - AWE ftw
Upgrade - Stasis is really your only option.
I have had both and the AWE Quad sounded amazing, until my HFC went in. Then it became unbearable drone. Stasis was next and it is droney with the HFC, but extremely livable.

You know, I love the loud sound, and had a custom built exhaust, (see sig). I knew the Milltek was waay too quiet, and wanted something louder than most exhausts on the market. I still don't know what drone is. Either I like the sound of this "drone" or my shop built my exhaust so well that it has no drone. It is hella loud when you are getting on it, but nothing is annoying or bothersome at constant speeds. I love the sound all the time! Sometimes, I just think you guys that call it "drone" are just pussies!

Ouch. So I got my STaSIS installed about 3 weeks ago and I really like the sound. I also had the 034 HFC installed at the same time, and the combination of the two really takes the diesel tick engine sound and makes it respectable. I should note that this is my first aftermarket exhaust. I've already been on long drives with it and there is very little drone. The engine is loud when you put your foot down, but that's exactly what you should expect.
I don't have direct experience with the AWE, but I made my decision based on wanting to go for a middle of the road exhaust. I've heard APR is too quiet, and AWE has as many fans as detractors, pretty much all based on noise levels...

i feel that AWE has the best sounding exhaust. The drone is just rediculous. I honestly dont care about the drone yet everyone in the back seat does. But i have a feeling in the near future i will either switch back to stock or go with a system that has less drone

AWE quad tips FTW!! I am in love with the look of my AWE quad tips, and I love how the exhaust sounds paired with my tp. The drone is pretty loud around 3000rpm , but I don't mind it too much because I like a loud exhaust. If the drone is too loud, you can just shift up or hit the gas a little lighter and it will be almost gone! (I learned this trick because people in the back seat can't hear themselves talk around 3000rpm under acceleration... but like sexican said, I don't sit back there so F em') But, the drone is unavoidable while accelerating up a hill, unless you have massive fat matt.

Sorry for the threadjack, but can someone answer... I bought a catback stasis exhaust (which i fucken love). It didn't come with a straight through 3" downpipe like some others I've seen advertised said. I'm wondering is the downpipe the entire length of the Catalytic converter pipe, or if I were to get a HFC, would that completely replace the piping that goes from the turbo all the way to my catback system?

I've heard a few Stasis and AWE's in person. The AWE's tend to have more drone from within the car (and they did on the B6 as well), and while the Stasis had some drone, it was considerably less than the AWE's. We have the Stasis exhausts in stock and on sale for $899 w/ free shipping (please ignore the picture, we need to get the correct stock photo from Stasis: http://www.europaparts.com/audi-a4-parts/b7/2-0t/exhaust.html)

If I'm understanding your question correctly, the HFC will just replace the stock cat, and a downpipe will bolt up to the cat, not to the turbo.

OP, it all comes down to personal preference. I have the AWE system w/ VMR Tp and yeah - there's drone, but who doesn't want that [:D]
