View Full Version : Another Koni FSD/Eibach Pro kit (fixed title) drop

After almost 2yrs and 67,000 miles I finally lowered the car. Went from non-sport OEM to Koni FSD/Eibach Pro kit. I had a friend come over install them. We used the DIY that's been posted and some tips from nramsey on the install. I have to say it's a perfect drop to me, any lower and the wheels would be too tucked for my style. The ride is great and it corners nicely, would be better if I had some meat on the tires though. I only have one crappy pic since it was dark when we finished work yesterday. Will get some better pics up this weekend. Thanks to everyone who's put up info for the suspension installs, it could have been a royal pain without the tips.

Looks like a nice stance but we need more pics! Oh and it's the springs that drop the car, not the shocks so technically it's "Another Eibach drop".[:p]

yeah I know, I thought about that after I titled the thread and was too lazy watching olympics to go change it... I'll get more shots later, I love that stance though!

I got them from NAM at their most recent sale price. I had ordered about a month ago. Excellent service from them and they're local so I got the kit the day after they got the kit in.

I took a couple of pics this morning before I left for work but I don't have a compact flash reader here so pics will have to wait til tonight. Thanks for the compliments.

That's the sale that I picked them up from.

nice barn

Thanks. It's attached to my garages though so the dust is horrible! Not cool for a black car, especially since I like to try and keep it clean!

Here's the best I could get this morning while it was snowing. I'll have to get a better profile picture later, but this gives you an idea of how it looks on 17s with this set up.

...some AZ love...

Overall, I love the stance and since the alignment and tires the ride is great. Definitely a little more feel to the road but not so much that it's not a comfortable daily driver. I do 95 miles a day 6 days a week and it feels good to me. I hopped in the Titan this evening to get something to bbq and I thought I was driving a semi it felt so high after driving the A4 during the day.

And after the alignment, a new set of boots...finally!!

How much of a drop did you get from it?

Not really sure exactly, forgot to measure it before and after. I'd say probably about an 1.5" - 2" drop from non-sport suspension (pretty much consistent with everyone else that goes with this kit). It's actually lower than some of the pictures I've seen of this kit and surprised me once we got it off the jack stands.

I'd throw up a before pic, but I don't have any on this comp.

Nice. I like those stock wheels pretty well too...something different from the split 5s that are so common.

perfect stance!!! how long after did you get the alignment? And how was it driving before that - did you have to get alignment right away or could you still drive it w/out for a bit?

Nathan, thanks. I actually like them too. I still plan on doing 18" V710's in HS with summer tires.

TH85, I waited almost a week to do the alignment. That was about 500miles of driving. I would have liked to wait another week to make sure it was settled all the way, but my tires were shot and we had a snowstorm that was supposed to dump more than it actually did. I didn't want to run brand new tires on a bad alignment so they did the alignment and tires at the same time. At about 75mph it was a little rough, not sure if it was due to bad alignment or bad tires, but it's smooth now.

thanks for the info - so it sounds like the car is very driveable even wtihout alignment until the car settles after a week or so to finally get it aligned.

Yeah it should be fine. The steering wheel on mine was just off the the right a little. Didn't really pull much. Should get an alignment within a few weeks, but no need to rush it.

Well I think I'm going to pull the plug on this kit. Before I do though. How is the ride compared to the stock suspension?

72mako
03-07-2010, 02:41 PM
I can definitely feel the bumps more than stock suspension. Comparatively it has gotten passing reviews from my passengers so it's not out of this world bumpy. I'm happy with the ride and it stays so much flatter in the corners. This weekend was the first time I had a chance to test it out after the new tires and suspension and an on-ramp that I normally back out of the gas due to body roll I was able to stay in the gas and get on the freeway at normal freeway speeds.

Between this and stock suspension, this is a tad bit more harsh but not unreasonable and it lessens the body roll significantly.

Hey, so I just ordered this kit from NAM and it said on their site that it is IN STOCK. I'm wondering if it said that as well when you ordered it, because I noticed you said you waited a month for the kid...

Heck, your set up looks awesome. My Koni coilovers are about the same height.

Enjoy it man

I can tell you that you will wear out your fronts quickly with all that neg camber. I put on the Koni/eibachs, and my new Bridgestone 960AS lasted about 13 months.
I just put the Stern adjustable control arms on mine and got them dialed back into specs.

I just had it realigned today thanks to introducing it to a huge pothole at freeway speeds. It was slightly out of adjustment. I didn't look really close after they were done to see if that camber was still there or not. I'm just thankful I was on stock 17's, if I was on anything bigger they would have been toast. Hit hard enough to take a bite out of the right side tire and nick both rims. I may have to do the control arms down the road but the extra $$ isn't laying around anymore.

Anyone who's doing this kit should do the RS4 sway bar as well. It's perfect after that.

I wouldn't know what my car drives like without the RS4 rear sway, that was one of the first things I did and have had it a couple years. I agree, definitely a great bang for the buck mod!
