i've looked through just about every plasti-dip thread i could find, but i can't figure out whether people sanded/scuffed their stuff before spraying it

to do the chrome piece on the B7 grill, should it be sanded before it's plasti-dipped? or you can just plasti-dip it?

TIA!

i did with a dremel, it helps the paint stick.

you dont need to sand and if you ever get tired of it, it is a lot easier to remove if you don't sand. I didnt sand and mine has been up front for about 2 years with no chips.

Just cleaned all the pieces I was spraying really well. No sanding. It will turn out well, but remember to be generous with coats.

There are connection tabs on the back of your rings...I think 8 total, maybe more. Anyways unless you broke them off the will clip right back in. Off subject X3 on the dipped rim pics from 9803audiboy905.

yea i know about the front rings and the clips that break easily... i was going to dip those too, but...
i was wondering about reattaching the back rings after i dip them.
like should i use a tape kind of stuff and cut out the ring shape? or just use a tube kind of adhesive?

Adhesive I would say. Easier to do right I would think.

Check my rings...http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?346151-Update-with-Pics-About-to-have-my-first-encounter-with-PlastiDip

No adhesive I just popped them back into the plastidipped grille. Unless you put 100 plus coats the clips should still fit in your grill. Additionally, If you think about the properties of PlastiDip its like spraying on a rubber/vinyl/ plastic trash bag. 5 coats gets somewhat thick and in my mind would think it would add a little strength to the tabs. All in all adhesive will make it very difficulty to get your rings off, although it would surely hold.

As for the back rings, call a body shop and ask them what adhesive they use.... didnt read thoroughly enough, hence the above front ring post. Lol

thanks man, but we were talking about adhesive for the trunk rings, not the front ones... i agree that the front rings will be all set to clip back on with plasti-dip
i was just generally curious what would work best for the back rings
