So I am replacing my timing belt and I ended up damaging one of the six bolts on the Dampner pulley. I don't have any tools to get it out. I am thinking about drilling the bolt. but I would need to empty my AC system. Anyone knows how to do it? what product should I use to refill the system. please help I haven't been able to drive for two days :banghead:

Here you go, http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?327828-A4-B7-Timing-Belt-Complete-DIY. PM the OP on that thread, he should be able to help you as he has done the AC evacuation in his procedure.

just sent a PM to fly300kts. what kind of damage can you do with releasing the freon in the atmosphere?

i think, it is relatively non-toxic, so as long as you do not purposely inhale it you'd be fine. if you just let it out how are you going to fill the system back up? I am guessing, you need a closed system to do it.

Just bad for the Ozone. No issue for you with the R134A
Got the same issue when I did my belt, the 6 Allen screws are really soft so no panic, they are really easy to drill. Like I told you on the PM, bleed High pressure and Low pressure side. Disconnect the 2 hoses and swing the front to the side. Drill and replace the screws. Reconnect everyhting and stop by Autozone or similar, to refill the circuit. I had the chance to have the Bench at work to refill mine.
If you need my Cell #, PM me

I just read a little more on the R134a refrigerant's chemical and environmental properties and affects. It is much less toxic than R12, which makes it nearly non-toxic at all, very volatile and absolutely does not deplete the ozone layer either. It's chemical designation is tetrafluoroethane, organic obviously.

Nonetheless, I am not looking forward to doing this timing belt thing.

Why do you need to disconnect the A/C system? You can pull the entire motor without touching the A/C..
Just disconnect the A/C compressor, the condenser, and swing it out of the way.
