Did anyone notice – when set in metric mode - how the fuel consumption is displayed?

The computer displays fuel consumption in Litre per Hour instead of Litre per Km. e.g. 1.5 L/hour when idling (thats what I got)

I don't know why it doesn't display anything when configured in American or Imperial mode. Perhaps it's because Gallons / Hour unit would be an insignificant value when idling… /EDIT (=1.5/4.75 = 0.3 gal/hour in american gallon)

P.S. The center LCD display has a very high resolution, anyone know what resolution this display has?

How can you get any mileage when idling? You have to have some sort of forward progression or you are just burning fuel and not getting any sort of "mileage. "

Think of it like a diesel fuel generator, it doesn't go anywhere but it consumes fuel to produce electricity (gal/hour or litre/hour).

That must be the difference between mean fuel consumption shown by the computer vs. actual fuel consumption measured at the pump when filling up the tank. That explains the delta that we observe between the car computer value and overall fuel consumption on a fill up.

I assume that it was first class that a car company thought of it. It's the first time a see this on a car.

I always thought of it in terms of miles per gallon, rather than rate of consumption - I suppose if this is the way of measuring it's possible.

Liters per hour would be kinda useless to me. I don't estimate my next gas fill-up based on the hours total I have driven, but rather the miles between fill-up. Either way, interesting find. I guess it could be more accurate than the miles per hour calculation since the miles can vary a little based on tire sizing if you upgrade them. But then again, if you change your FPR or put a different pump in it would throw off the L/Hr calculation...

It's a bit of an eye opener when you start switching off certain accessories and then see the impact it has while at idle which in turn also affects reg MPG. Being Canadian this view is default for me. On a side note there is an Efficiency Program that can be activated via VCDS which I've done. It displays what items turned on, i.e Heated Seats, AC etc in the order of how negatively it's affecting EPA and how much in total they are affecting L/HR.

I go from 1.5 L/HR with heated driver seat and AC on to .9L/HR with those 2 off.

Just my 2 cents

Car computer instant fuel consumption when Speed=0 / Idle configured in metric

/EDIT Here is the pic (had trouble inserting image).
