I did a few searches and found nothing. Has anyone converted their sound system to Bose from just the normal Symphony II? And does anyone know what it would cost to do.

i have the symphony II, and blew my stock sub. replaced it with the bose sub - direct fit, and it sounds quite a bit more crisp.
havent messed with the headunit or other speakers though.

You're referring to the open air sub in the rear tray, right? Where did you get the bose version?

I'd check the classifieds... here's a sub. (http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=29765&title=factory-bose-sub&cat=56)

All I know is that the bose speakers run 2 ohm, whereas the regular setup is 4 ohm. I would not recommend swapping out any other speakers for the bose equivalent without swapping the HU.

You can VAG-COM the HU for BOSE iirc. Just like the old Monsoon for VW

How about a non bose unit?

Well, the output on a bose unit would also be 2 ohm as opposed to regular 4 ohm. I am not sure if what someone else said is true about being able to vag your HU to Bose or not.... Basically, if your speakers are 2 ohm, and you have a 4 ohm signal, the speakers are trying to draw too much power from the stereo, which could cause problems like overheating and failure, I believe.

Im pretty certain. I had a MKIV Jetta TDI. In Canada, it was unavailable with monsoon. I wanted my radio coded with a vag for Monsoon. But I had to replace my speakers in order to do so, and install an amp under the rear shelf

this only applies to high volumes. most subs run at higher ohm under normal volumes, so its fine. basically the only possible downside is your amp might overheat if you crank up your sub volume to 100% for an extended period as at 2 ohm the sub is trying to draw more power for more watts.
i personally never go over 60% volume, so the bose sub has been perfect with my symphony II headunit.

I have similar questions. My last Audi had the Bose setup. And it was just fine for me. My newer one does not have the Bose. (huge oversight on my part)
I have collected all of the Bose speakers, amp and sub to up-convert from the stock setup.
What do I need to do the HU? Simply VAG it? Reground something?
