my fogs are actually an aftermarket set of bulbs, stock ones are way more yellow. supposed to be white/blue but look at that difference between the two.

I have the DDM HID kit on my halogens and think they look GREAT! They are white and match my LED's superbly. 6000k 35w low beams. They don't blind people at all like some cars I see on the roads here that's for sure! Pics of lights never do justice because of the glare.

they are nice if you can control the beam height.. which is why I like HID in projector housing, save up and get those housings, it will be worth while..

^^^Exactly!! Add that to the fact that they are illegal b/c they aren't in the correct housing. You and your ricer brethren are making a mockery of the technology and of the audi name. There are a lot of choices when it comes to moddin' a vehicle and plug-n-play HID kits that get stuffed into Halogen housings are not good ones... FAIL

It's cool that you like it, but honestly.. A friend of mine has 8000k with reflector housings, and I can't stand driving in front of him, idk what I'd do without my Auto dimming mirrors.

not true, I did my whole bi-xenon conversion for under $500. and while you can sell your reflector housings for $100-200 in the classifieds, you're looking at $300-400.

MCT already has explained how they're not that much more expensive so I won't go into that. I will however give you a few ideas and resources to save you from making the OP's mistake if you haven't already. Search for username lowesta4. Idk if he's still around but he used to source housings and kufatec conversion kits for 8bills. Hidplanet.com is another good place to start reading if you'd like to more about how stupid these eBay kits are. The botto
line is our cars are not hondas and shouldn't be treated as such. If one can't afford to upgrade tastefully then upgrading shouldn't be rushed. MCT proved that good things come to those who wait. I picked up my bixenons on ebayuk and had the
shipped here. It's frustrating not having your car where u want it to be. But believe me it's more frustrating having to redo and undo past mods when you realize u didn't do it right the first time. There's good reason I comment on these threads. Now you know. To save people the trouble caused by their own stupidity

Haha okay first of all relax and leave this thread if you're gonna make your own opinion get in the way and criticize what I did/do with my own car. How is it a mistake? How it is stupidity? Maybe in your eyes it is but in mine it isnt obviously. Like I said before I'll say it again. As long as I like it I dont give a fuck what you or anyone else on here has to say negative about it. if you really didn't 'give a fuck' as you say, you wouldn't be posting in this thread acting all butthurt. I already explained to you why it's stupid and a mistake as did other users. Your the one that needs to relax and do some reading. Imagine that someone posted an opinion on an Internet forum. What a big surprise.
You sound so content. If anyone needs to relax it's you. If you can't take the criticism without getting all butt hurt when someone calls out your choice on an intrnet forum then maybe you should leave the thread

Acting butthurt? How do you act butthurt on a forum? I dont want to e-fight you so lets just leave it at that, you win. But once again if you dont have anything positive to say dont say it AT ALL because its people like you that ruin forums and make it a bad community because of something so small like LIGHTS. Yes, lights. Now look at yourself and how dumb you just came out to be. If its my car, Ill put 4894894840 lights on it if I want with no projector housing and it can be HIDs with 30000K if I please. Hope you get my point because I dont care about your opinion since it's not going to change whats already been done.

At this point I'm only posting for those that haven't made this horrible choice. The reason why it's important to express my opinion ( besides the fact that it's my right and I'll continue to do so even after you keep telling me I shouldn't ) is because what you've done to your car is illegal, dangerous ( hence the reason it's illegal) and it's annoying as hell. You can pretend all you want that it looks good and act like your not blinding other drivers because your cannot friends told you so but the fact remains that your spilling light all over the road. Your lights at 10k are actually putting out less light then your halogens and you've made a great sports sedan look like shit because you've tried to cut corners. Now I understand you may be incorrigible, but the people who are making there (oh so insignificant LIGHTING) decision as you say still have a chance to make an informed choice. Goood luck though!

Even if I am blinding others which Im not, Im pretty sure they would've high beamed me by now [;)]. What you're saying doesnt matter, there is other people on here that have HIDs without projector housing and you havent made any impact. So Ill keep blinding people and enjoy my lights like Ive been doing. Hopefully one day I pass by you and blind you too [:D]. And I've made a great sports sedan look like shit? You are just too funny maybe you should try being a comedian instead on being on AZ at 4AM and get payed for it? Just because of lights you say all that? Hahaha, GOOOD night man Ill reply to whatever you have to say next later on today because Im sure you will, there has been plenty of people like you on the internet [:)] nothing new.

Everything you've said is completely one point, with the amount of cheap HID kits out there this occurrence is likely just going to become more common. Not much you can do with people who refuse to accept any criticism after failing to correctly research these lighting mods. [:|]
Here is a good picture to illustrate the previously stated points: (Interesting how this thread and those similar to it usually contain no pictures of the actual beam pattern though)

1) they're blinding. OP, theres no denying that... come on. Don't you think you're being a little bit childish
saying your safety is first priority when it comes to the people driving on the road?
2) bblume is giving his criticism for the best, under all the flame, he's trying to help.
3) hope you don't get any tickets, because yes, they are illegal.
4) I believe they say you ruined your sports sedan look because unlike civics, we have the inexpensive option
of great projector housings, that look better and point all the light in one specific area of the road.

Yeah, I gotta say... when it's dark out side and I see blue HIDs in halogen reflectors, I assume it's a Honda. Or around my parts, some jackass with a lifted truck, so his headlights shine right at your rearview mirror. 10K can look cool, but I think it needs to be in a projector housing, so you get the cutoff.

I think 6000k is the last acceptable temperature, i have 6000's on my bike and i love um. anything past 6000K is way too blue with too much loss of lumen..
My friend has Phil V3 LEDs, stock halogen and halogen housing, but he clear cornered them and put in H7 50W 6000k in the same housing.
I think it looks awesome and not ricer at all. matches the LEDs perfectly.
I'm kinda confused bout the posts above...are youll saying this type of set up looks "ricer"? i think it looks awesome. he also has 6000k H11 35W HIDs for his fogs

Then give me the money to buy xenons? Thats my problem to worry about if its cheap or not not yours. Thank you.
What I'm saying is, that it's not JUST your problem. It's the guy in front of you being blinded. It's your passengers who you are endangering with lights that aren't aimed properly. Long shots, sure, but the fact that it looks cheap also should persuade you to save up for some proper housings or stick with some nice halogens, which would do the actual JOB of making it safe to drive at night. That's the problem these days with ricers. I'm not saying YOU are a ricer, but isn't what we make fun of ricers for is when they chose form over function?
You DID go the cheap route because you didn't acquire the proper housings. Whether or not you or I think it's cheap or looks cheap is immaterial to the fact that it IS cheap. Does that make sense? It's like calling you out on paying for the $2 hamburger instead of the $6 hamburger. You got a $2 hamburger and you can taste and see it. It's a cheap burger. I can see you don't have the proper housings. Fact.
Then give me the money to buy xenons? Thats my problem to worry about if its cheap or not not yours. Thank you.

I get what you're saying and Im not saying I have the correct housing in any way. I was looking to buy projector headlights even before I bought the HID kit so it is on my to-do list. Its not like Im not going to get them and I never said Im keeping the halogens FOREVER. =/

Right: Projector housings with 4300-5000k HIDs. Optimize light out put, beam pattern, and look cool/classy.
Wrong: Halogen housings with 10000k HIDs. Waste light output due to color, blind people, and look cheap/rice.

This thread is pretty awesome. Cements the fact that going the cheap route is always the wrong route.

I mean idk...i think it also comes down to opinion a little.
Like I said, my friend has Phils V3 LEDs and H7 50W 6000k in his halogen housing and i think it looks awesome. doesnt blind me at all at night. I'm going down the exact same route. But, to OP, maybe 10k is a tad bit much? but if you're happy with them im not gonna talk say much

On the topic of bad HID upgrade. Can someone who has done the halogen to xenon conversion list what they did so that they can help others out? I also almost went the cheap way by just putting in xenon lights in a halogen housing. Good thing I didn't cause it would have looked like sh*t. I know it isn't cheap but $1500 for xenon housing is a little steep. Not to mention you need to pay another $200 or so just for the bulbs and ballast.

So you agree with what everybody else is saying, that these are the wrong housings? I think the thought behind your lights are a good idea, but the execution was off. We all live and learn. Everyone is trying to help you out, both is style and safety!

Apparently you haven't read the whole thread.
If you did you would've seen what me and bblume said.
You can do the whole conversion for ~500-600.
Check ebay or the classifieds for the housings, even
if they're used, get them in good shape.
Ask Jens (LowestA4) for the HID kit (bulbs ballasts and wiring harness)
Most important of all... BE PATIENT!! and wait for the good prices to come.
That's what I did, and I did the whole conversion for $500

x2 - no substitute for OEM projector housings first, THEN mod w/ CC, LED, etc…
IMO, the OP here is quite immature and should be ignored in his arrogance. Let him degrade his ride as he pleases!
