Sorry for posting this, as I have some questions, and there are multiple multiple threads about it..

Firstly, why does the difference in displays matter? I have a color display, why would that affect the choice of LED bulb?

Secondly, having a color display... which LED Bulbs should I purchase for the License plate, and the front city lights.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Thanks

Sorry no one is helping you out much. Start with ECS, they have stuff for us like this. Start by reading through this thread, there are a few options here. As far as color display, I don't know why the difference.

I'm looking for suggestion to led plate light for color display. I think tunerdome is good, and there is another thread about it. (if you want just pop in bulbs)
other than that... like what all others say, get resistors..

yeah, hopefully I can find some that I dont have to deal with resistors... for my MKV GTI I had the ZiZa bulbs, but not sure if they work for my car with the display that I have..

You can just get any 39mm led bulbs and add an 25ohm25watts resistors

Believe it or not i got a pair and they were throwing codes. about a month ago i stopped getting codes. dont know why, car works fine, im not complaining. even with the thrown code the lights were worth it.

I was told 36mm by Hoen for the dLEDs on my license plate. I ordered a set and installed them last night. A little different situation as I had the red dis and I don't even get bulb out warnings for headlights, so I knew I wouldn't get one for license plate bulbs. As a side note, they look good!

Yes, 36mm is correct for oem but you can squeeze an 39mm bulb in it. 39mm bulb have more leds

Ahh, thank you, I did not know that. These came out pretty good for me, I don't need daylight on my plate :) A question for you though, they seem loose and the resistors make them top heavy which I'm thinking may cause them to rotate so the LEDs are facing upwards. Can I just use a glue gun and put a dab of glue on the ends to hold them in place? Thanks.
