View Full Version : Installed TunerDomes LED plate bulb, and now top line of cluster display is fuzzy..?
Hey guys,
Installed TunerDomes "Plates" plate LED bulbs last night, and they look/work fantastic but this morning when I hopped in my car, I noticed that the top line of the cluster display is partially fuzzy. Hard to explain and harder to take a pic with my phone, but see below:

It's an '06 non s-line red dis - any thoughts? I'll try to take a better pic when I get home from work.
Might be something to do with the electrical housing and the resistors. try putting your stock ones back in and see if it clears up. Mine didnt throw a code for a few days, but out of nowhere yellow light bulb red X
Thanks! I'll try the old bulbs tonight, it's weird that I didn't notice it until I got to work.. regardless, these things look so clean and David shipped super fast

hmm my 03 passat used to do that when it was either really hot or really cold out.
Swapped the old bulbs back in, and looks like it's fixed it for now.. having some work done so I gotta see if they throw a code or not next time I pop them back in.

Humm. I just installed the same TunerDomes LED's yesterday that you have and didn't get this problem. '08 red display...I did get a blub out warning though, did you?
I don't think I did get the bulb warning.. my CEL and EPC lights are on (it's getting work done as we speak, hopefully) and have been, but the bulb light didn't show.

aren't those bulbs supposed to be error-free lights?

I've heard they still throw codes on color display, but not red.. surprised that Theklug got a light with red dis..

Yeah I was surprised too. What I want to do is switch the bulbs and see if that does anything. From what I read about thunderdomes is that there are some people who have a red display still get that bulb out warning and some do not. It seems like a hit or miss, I'm going to email this dave guy and see if he has any insight.
Again. Tunerdomes will not throw codes, unless its your license plated bulbs. I have a color display and it reads number plate bulb with a little yellow light bulb being crossed out by a red X. I have heard on rare occasion it will not throw a code on a color display and they only throw codes sometimes on a red display. I talked to Tunerdomes and they said to send them back and get a refund. Too bad Tunerdomes I want my plate LEDs code or not......And yes they are advertised as being code free.

I emailed Dave from Tunerdomes and he said to try and reinstall them. I took both of them out, put the old bulbs back in and turned on the car.....no warning. I then re-installed the led's at the same time and still they threw a code when I turned them on. I don't know if they are defective or what but its definitely something that is a hit or miss it seems.
+1 here too, just installed them and code appears. I have color display.
grrrrr it's bright though
Damn. Just passed inspection (with the stocks in), and just caught a glipse of the display bugging out again (with the stocks in).
What would this be ?
