For the past month and a half or so I have been having rough starts in the mornings. The car doesn't start up normal. It would stutter a bit and then it would start up. Once it is started the rest of the day it would be fine. Today it was the worst. It stuttered for a good 5 seconds before it would start and when it did start the car was vibrating. I turned the car off and started it back up and it was fine. Anyone else having this problem or can explain to me why it is doing this?

Its because of the cold, assuming you live where it gets cold and it snows...

There is other threads about this.

he's right, it's the cold.
And if it's not that I'd replace spark plugs.

definitely not the spark plugs.

I've had this issue with my car since it was new. First course of action is to have to dealer reflash the ecm with their updated software. This worked for me for a few months, until it got cold again.
Early January my car wouldn't start at all at 2am in 20 degree weather. Dealer replaced the low pressure fuel pump and the fuel pressure sensor. The car still has a grinding noise at start up and takes a few tries
to turn over on cold days if it hasn't been driven for 48 hours or more. My next guess is the cam follower which i will check before the warranty runs out.

Mine never gets that bad.
Cam follower wouldn't do anything for starting. I just had mine replaced 100 miles ago and it still does it in this 20 degree weather.

What part of NY are you from?

One other item in addition to the cold to consider. Our cars have a problem with the IRMC or IMRC. Stands for something like Intake something Motor Control. Not sure but Audi and APR both told me it can cause rough cold crank. If you have a real rough start and throw I CEL that's probably going to be first on the list. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I feel a lot better now that I know it isn't some mechanical problem.

Bring it in to the dealer. There's a ECU software update that fixes it.

I'm not under warranty so it's going to cost me.
