I have noticed with my iPhone 3GS that it occasionally disconnects from the BT in the car while I'm driving (hasn't happened while on a call though). Sometimes it will reconnect on its own, but 1/2 the time I have to go into the phone and select the car under the BT devices screen to get it to connect again.

My previous phone (not an iPhone) did not have this problem, so I'm inclined to suspect the phone and not the car. Anybody else have this problem - and more importantly - have you found a solution? Someone suggested turning off the Wifi in advance, and I tried that but it didn't address the problem.

Thanks,

Happens with mine too, only a few times though. It disconnects for a few seconds then comes back on by itself. My old blackberry didn't used to do that. My wifi has been off ever since I got the phone, so that's not the issue. Since it only happens intermittently, it hasn't been enough of a problem to check up on.

Iphone 3g sucks. the original iphone was the best model as far as connectivity. The 4g will be leagues ahead. I had a 1st gen. But I will never own one again unless they separate from ATT's tit. ATT is the absolute worst cell company in the world. The shittiest coverage ever, most dropped calls, almost no real 3g network. The only thing keeping ATT afloat right now is the iphone.

My Blackberry bold disconnects from BT connection every now and then. Doesn't happen all the time, but maybe once or twice a month if that.
I'd try a restore and update to the newest software and see if that fixes the problem.

Hercfe, in the grand scheme of providors at&t really isn't that bad. I guess if you fall into the propaganda from verizon that their 3G is much better.
In reality their 3G isn't THAT fast..and at times it gives the same speeds as at&t's edge network. You can choose to listen or not, but the truth is the Iphone
itself and the way it communicates with the towers causes a overload and the calls drop. Unlike a regular cell phone, which only commuicates now and then,
the iphone is pinging the towers a LOT more then a normal cell phone. It's true, at&t can't handle it, and I guess it might be their fault, but they are pouring
TONS of money into their network to fix it.

I have the same problem and I read on another post that when you have the BT on without a charger, it will "sleep" thus turning BT off.

I now always plug my phone into the car charger and BT stays on; two fold. One, BT always stays on for me now and two the battery is such crap that I always have to plug the phone in.

I was the one posting about using a charger to avoid the bt disconnection, and so far so good. Used my phone the other night without charger, and after about 10 mins it cut out. Plugged in and no problem after.
