This is going to be a very simple install . . . but in doing research for this I found a lack of info on stereo upgrades for the B6 A4 platform.

I am installing the following:
Hertz MLK165 (~3" mounting depth)
Nakamichi PA4100
Nakamichi PA1500
Wicked CAS Sub Box (http://www.wickedcas.com/product.php?productid=33&cat=13&page=1)
10" Alpine Type R

All run off of a Pioneer Avic Z2

I just got started tonight trying to get everything figured out.

Pulled the door panel - I don't think I'll spend too much time dampening here, looks decent from the factory. There are a couple of areas where there is no metal behind the factory foam . . . not sure of the foam itself is a good enough seal?

Old speaker and the new:

The overall height is nearly identical i however the factory speaker has a plastic vented backing on it which sat very close to the hardware inside the door. If I mount the hertz driver like this the magnet will be 1/8" away from said hardware. At most. Is this going to pose problems to the performance of the speaker?

No idea what I am going to do with the amps. Don't want to mount them to the seat backs, this seems cheesy to me. But might not have a choice?

Maybe eliminate the spare tire and build a rack for them if there is space. Ideas?

I'll keep updating as I go, going to work a few hours a day at it so it will be slow going.

Any advice is welcome, I'm new at this

Audi doors are sealed off pretty well from the factory, but here's what I recommend -

Put a couple pieces of dynamat behind the speaker opening on the doorskin to help deaden it a bit, then dynamat the door panel itself. What I've found is that putting a full system in an audi will cause the door speakers to play frequencies that they haven't played before and thus cause the door panels themselves to resonate. Dynamatting the door panel itself can certainly help.

How big are your amps? You might be able to mount them on the decklid, or maybe even hide them behind the side panels in the trunk.

Put the amp on the decklid and you need to remove the 8" factory speaker. The factory speaker will cancel you 10" sub sound and you need to let the sound into the cabin and not fight in the trunk. Did you buy the sub box already if not PM me for identical one.
