From any reasonable distance it just looks like a black splitter instead of silver, but up close you can see the CF pattern details.
FYI- mine is a custom 2x2 twill overlay, while the one they're showing above is 1x1 plain weave full carbon replacement piece.

I had it up on a lift, which made the install much easier, but not totally straightforward. I thought it was only held in place by the push pins underneath, but there are also a few torx screws holding it in place that must be accessed from the back of the splitter. Having it on the lift certainly made this easier, but still tough to access those screws.

Yes, it replaces the lower center "aluminum" piece.

Yes the OE splitter is rather complicated in terms of the way its installed. Its consistent with the way Audi designers does things [:D].

Our splitter actually retains all those mounting points inside and out to make it a secure fit rather than using double sided tape like the ones you would find in cheaper alternative products. Having a lift would make the installation easier as Blake said.
