Hi there,
I want to install this:
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?290604-ECS-Tuning-OEM-Upgraded-Piston-Diverter-Valve-In-Stock-!!!&highlight=diverter+valve+installation+instructions
http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/images/dis/19968/800/06h145710d%28done%29.jpg
And I haven't been able to find proper installation instructions. I have been able to find this:
http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/GFBstealth.html&category=1
which looks very good and in part clear; although I'm not sure whether is the B7 or not... and I'm not completely sure about the materials/parts I would need...
and I have also been able to find this:
http://i43.tinypic.com/r94dbo.png
but I'm not sure how it's supposed to help...
Please don't laugh... I haven't done much work on my car, but since I'm not able to find anyone down here in Santiago to do it, I'm willing to try myself...
Has anyone else find something better?? What should I look for? Is it possible to do it from above the car, without putting it on a ramp?
I would appreciate any further input.
Thanks and regards!

That pic is as good as it gets. You want to do it from under the car. You will see it. (3) bolts #14 hold it in, remove and replace thats it.

yeah that's about it... I did the same DV and as soon as you get under the car you'll see it.
1) take out 3 bolts
2) replace dv
3) replace 3 bolts
and you're done

Many thanks guys, for those quick replies...
How about the torx keys some mention...?? Are those #14 bolts the standard ones? [:p]
Cheers!

OK. So I need to go and get a #14 torx key... I thought I had read that those Audi torx key were special or something... it seems I was wrong.
Other thing: any additional part or material that I need? Clamps or o-rings?
Thanks again.
Cheers,

you can use either 5mm allen bit or T30 torx. either one will do the job. it helps if you have skinny arms. it is going to be tight but doable. you might want to also have a good set of wrench extensions available to get good leverage on them bolts.

How does #14 torx key mentioned above "talks" to 5mm allen (bit??) or T30 torx?
What are the wrench extensions for? Not the bolts holding the plastic cover, right...?
Thanks!

I did this a few months back. Good info and i'd get the Knuckle attachment before you start.
Use this thread. I installed mine last weekend and it's a huge difference.
Take your time, getting them out is the hard part. Re-Install is 5 minutes.
PM me if you need advice.

Take your time. At first you'll think there's no way you're going to be able o do this. It's almost impossible without the knuckle extension. Good luck!

Here's the wrench extension set-up I ended up using to take the Dv out:

I found this to be ideal for all three bolts. We are talking about a 4" extension to the tip of the bit.

Ok so I am planning on putting in the rev d next weekend. I picked up the torx bits and the knuckle from schucks. I have ramps to get the car up. my question is why does it take an hour (as many have quoted) to get 3 bolts out of the dv? If reinstall is only 5 mins I guess I am just sort of confused. Also I am still under factory warranty. If I document the swap with photos and pull out a torn dv is the dealer likely to reimburse me for parts?

I don't know about getting your $ back. It takes an hour because you're trying to figure out for the first 50 minutes how the hell do I get these out!! Seriously you'll see once you're under there. I had the same set up with the ramps and it took 45 minutes. The knuckle made all the difference. It's not a straight shot to the bolts. They're at a tough angle. Going back in is easier because you're more familiar with the angles.

Dang well I guess I will let people know what happens. I'm not going to go to that trouble to take it off inspect it and then put it back on if it is fricken not torn anyways. The rev. my 2006 has is prone to tearing with a chipped car. Say it is torn and I reinstall it and I bring it in to the dealer and I'm like "I know its torn". Well they could easily be like "maybe because your car is chipped." haha. maybe it is worth the 70 bucks to not void my engine warranty....

Yeah i'd just call it a day and spend the $70.00. Do you have a boost gauge? I noticed a big drop and sure enough it was torn in the same spot as everyone else. Plus the new version is way better for a chipped car. Nothing to tear.

Thanks to all on AZ for their input and expertice, finally got a chance to turn a few wrenches on my 06 today (bought in Dec 2012), replaced the DV and snub mount (went oem on both, 'D' DV and factory snub). Took her for a 30 min 'spirited' test drive with a mix of street and highway, and felt a good difference. It may have been because I had different shoes than I normally drive in but the car felt more responsive and the up/down shifts were smoother with better acceleration.
Thanks again AZ community! Love these boards and the knowledge of its members!
