View Full Version : Seat Belt Light Problem...

Twice now in the past month I have had my seat belt warning light stay on after engaging the seat belt. The car acts like nothing has happened, and the light stays on and the chime goes off every 30 seconds or so. Strange thing is that after 10 minutes of driving (almost exact same driving distance), it goes off by itself and everything is back to normal. It's been a couple of weeks since it last happened, so it is intermittent, but I have no idea was the cause or cure might be (yes I know I can VAG it away but I'd like to have it working correctly first).

Thoughts?

I don't suppose you've put anything on the passenger seat?

I've had the seat belt light go off because I put a backpack on the passenger seat and the occupancy sensor decided that there was someone sitting there.

Beyond that it could be the sensor in the buckle is going bad.

Holy heavy backpacks, Batman!

I think you may be on to something, as I threw my backpack loaded with workout cloths, lunch & my laptop in the passenger seat this morning. Never even occurred to me that might be the issue (or that I'm an idiot for not thinking of that myself).
