So recently i started hearing some rattling while going over typical NYC bumps in the front of the car. Its quite annoying and audible. I got a feeling it could have something to do with the control arms and im hoping not.

I'm at 49k miles and it seems as if the car had a timer on it for things to go bad when the time comes lol

Anybody have this sort of issue on their cars?
Remember what it was?

I got a feeling it could be the control arms. Dealer will more than likely want to blame my 19" wheels for the problem >:(

Planning on visiting without an appointment, and we'll see what happens. If not, looks like ill be about 300 down the drain for new control arms :/

Might be as simple as loose shock shaft nuts. If they aren't done up to spec when new suspension is install it will cause clunks. I suppose it's possible yours have come loose, though I would be surprised if you've never touched them. I haven't heard of B7 control arm problems, which were notorious on the B5s.

I took my car in for some rattling and it was the bushings on the upper control arms. Not sure what the case is with the B7, but I know on the B6 this is not uncommon.

Do you still have stock suspension? I would assume so if you are trying to get this warrantied.

It probably is the control arms (upper). But then again you say rattle, do you mean "clunk"?

And if the dealer did argue 19" tires, they wouldn't be totally off base. You are running lower profile tires, less tire to absorb hits. Do you still have stockers? I would throw them on just to make it hassle free.

Im hearing the same rattlling sound on my 07 A4 with 50,000 miles. I'm gonna have my buddy check it out at his shop soon.

Coderedpl let me know what the dealer tells you. Hopefully it's not that bad...

Well im now out of warranty and i couldnt get the rattling to occur when i drove within the area of the dealership. Roads were too flat :(

I'll figure it out one day.

When you guys say rattling, are you meaning a clunk? Not sure what would "rattle" that would have to do with suspension. Have you inspected your suspension before?

Here is a thread that I had on my local forum http://www.akeuro.com/forum/index.php?topic=3979.0 I doubt you have the same issue. But some how the previous owners of my car missed (and the dealership) this for 30k miles....

Oh to check, just jack up each front tire and look towards the top of the shock.

I had the backing plate repaired on mine which was causing the rattle.

I get a clunk when the wheel is cut all the way. So I don't do it anymore. ;-)
