I just ordered a RS4 blackout grille with the flat black filler plate, however, I have to run a front plate. And here's my options:

1: Use 3M double sided tape to stick my license onto the filler

2: Get a Skidplate from a Winston and mount the plate on the side (JDM style)

3: Get a plate sticker from a local store and just stick it on the filler (This would be still illegal but would be better than running no plate and IMO looks better)

I don't have any pics of the first two options, here's a pic of the license stick I am talking about. Sorry for the BMW pic...

I can't... In Vancouver/Richmond BC, cops are just picking on guys with no front plate, tints and stuffs while there were lots of shooting happened last year... So I guess I will play it safe and find the best looking option out there...

I really like the vinyl graphic idea. i might do that but make it smaller.

if you get all weather double sided tape then you will be fine. you can find it in the paint department at home depot!

Yea it's gonna be custom made to the size I want it to be... so it will be just covering the center part of the filler...

If only there were some well designed license plates they wouldn't look so bad.

i suggest you secure the liscence plate because there are crazy people in the world like recently by me, someone found a liscence plate and popped it on their car and pulled a robbery with the cops thinking thats the right plate, so give no chance of it falling off

I have lived in Vancouver and in the fraser valley for over ten years and I never run a front plate. Some cops give me a fix it ticket which is dropped when I put it on, some cops don't even bother with it. As long your not rude to them or drive like a jackass it's not a big deal. But if you have to run the plate I would do the magnet method or the double sided tape.

May I ask what kind of excuses you give them when they pull you over?? I am pretty sure I will get a ticket in the first week running no front plate... coz I always go Richmond and those cops out there are always hunting to meet their quotas.....

The skidplate looks good on our cars. Also it position the plate at an angle away from the center of traffic. Plate scanners can go suck it!

I don't give them an excuse at all. I don't say anything at all. They tell me I need a front plate, I say yes, they ask me if I have one, I say yes. Sometimes I will put the plate right there and avoid the ticket (depending on the cop) or they give me an $83 ticket which does not cost me any points. Richmond is the worst for cops with a hard on!

QFMFT!

Normally when i get caught i just say that i had to replace my bumper and the older filler plate didn't fit the new bumper and i had to order a new one which was on the way. OR i had to use 3m tape on the front to hold my plate up because i had no mounting screws but the plate recently fell off and i was afraid of it falling off again so i took it off

Love the idea but needs some padding to reduce the rattle that I heard it has.

You need rare earth magnets (you can get them on ebay iirc). A local guy ran the magnetic plate on his B7, with a microfiber cloth in between the plate and the filler panel, significantly past the speed limit and it never fell off.

Sanjman

it's not about speed though is it? I would say it's about the bumps... anything that makes the plate movable (up and down fashion). The faster you go the stronger it would hold it right?

I don't understand the point of this. If you need a front plate in your state your still going to get pulled over if the thing is flipped down.

Eh, I just rock the OEM plate holder. I genuinely think it looks better than one slapped on there with magnets or tape. I prefer the no plate look, but cops are really cracking down around here and it's just not worth the hassle for me. In fact, it's not even real cops most of the time, it's the damn meter maids.

yeah magnet front plate is one of my best mods - no issues whatsoever for about 3 months. driven at 120mph (professional driver on a closed course of course) and its still stuck on like the first day i put it on.

those rare earth magnets are crazy, they can easily break a finger if you are not careful.

They have a motorized version with a key fob control. But its $150.00 [:(]

I have to run a front plate, but I'm tired of p-shopping it out in pics and can just flip it down now for that or whatever. Meh.
