Hey All,

I already posted this in the audio forum, but figured It would get more traffic here.

Currently, I am extremely interested in purchasing a set of 12" MTX TR7512 (http://shop.mtx.com/p/l_132/MTX_Audi...r/listing.html)

I plan on running this with a Rocksford Fosgate P700-1bbd (http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...n_us&p_status=)

However, I am unsure whether i need a 2 ohm or 4 ohm subwoofer, and whether or not I will need to wire the subs in sequence or in parallel, any help is greatly appreciated!

TIA

The amp is stable to 1ohm mono. Those subs are dual 4 ohm. Run the coils of each sub in parallel >>> 2ohm load per sub...and run both subs in parallel to the amp >>> 1ohm load to amplifier.

kthxbye

it doesn't matter.
if you run dual 2 ohm subs, you'll be at .5 ohms. (wired the way koolade said)
.5 ohm will be the same as 1 ohm, since that amp is only 1 ohm stable anyways.

what amp you want to run? and how much power will it have should help decide how many ohms you wanna run.

That's an awesome write up with replacing the stock sub w/ a aftermarket one.

NO go with the new MTX thunder, Square subs are the way to go. i have a solobarik and it is so loud, 15". im going to be going with 1 or possibly 2 mtx square thunders. square speakers have such a better sound IMO

I respect your opinion but that is what it is. Square subs don't sound better depending on who is listening to them. It also depends on what he wants, SPL, sound quality?

You cant possibly wire a 2 ohm amp or sub down to 1 ohm or even .5 ohms. It just doesn't work like that. Even if you could, your amp wouldn't be able to handle only 1 ohm of resistence. I would imagine that the amp would send itself into protect mode imediatly, though it wouldn't be possible anyways.
