Air By Santi

Everything but the trunk floor was installed last night. I drove it home and it drove amazing! Felt like being on stock suspension.

Santi took pics while we worked since my camera broke. So this morning I took a couple "teaser" photos with the wife's PNS.

Right now I'm on stock size tires and I have 13mm spacers in the front and 20mm in the rear so the wheels are preventing it from going any lower.

Today while Santi finishes the trunk I'm gonna finish the Merc wheels and put them on if all goes as planned....stay tuned.

01-31-2010, 12:17 PM
Needs more...

Looks great. What are you doing to the merc wheels?

01-31-2010, 01:06 PM
I firmly believe b5's and air are a perfect match.

I firmly believe b5's and air are a perfect match.

Yup. B5 A4's with stock bumpers, slammed on some nice wheels is win imo [up][up]

Car looks amazing man! Good job!

01-31-2010, 02:53 PM
That blacked out grill looks amazing on your car

01-31-2010, 03:15 PM
hell yah chris

01-31-2010, 05:52 PM
I'd rock it, ... but I still liked it better with the Huffs.

01-31-2010, 06:21 PM
Crap photo with my PNS. I'll get some better ones later.

Kind of sucks about the stupid upper c-arms...I wish the front was like 2 inches lower...oh well.

Just gotta find some carpet for the trunk and everything will be all set.

For those wondering about the rears. I'm fwd so I used a mk3 strut. Its an air strut or sleeve style bag.

01-31-2010, 06:36 PM
close pics of the wheels?
from vortex it sounds like you're taking your time and making everything legit.[up]
So what are your plans for the upper control arms? I say cut. Cut a lot.[:D]

01-31-2010, 06:41 PM
Good usage of the spare tire well. I wanted to do something similar, but I figured between the pump and tank it would take up too much room.

01-31-2010, 06:54 PM
Well...haha the wheels, well at least one of them, came out crappy. I sanded and sanded but still got lines and grooves in the paint. [down]

Its kind of temporary. I just wanted a change and since I'm broke now rattle caning them was the only option. They will be powder coated this summer hopefully...and that color I can not share with you [:D]

01-31-2010, 07:54 PM
looks awesome! are there any pics of the build floating around?

01-31-2010, 08:02 PM
how much did your setup cost?

01-31-2010, 08:05 PM
Badass man, hopefully I can go airride one day.

01-31-2010, 09:06 PM
...and that color I can not share with you [:D]

01-31-2010, 11:18 PM
Can't share with us? Teeeeeeeeease! You've got a build thread up on vortex? Link link please, I'm too lazy to search for it haha.

I drove it home and it drove amazing! Felt like being on stock suspension.

That's a good thing? [:/]

Car looks sweet, nice bag install. Are you going to seal/carpet that mdf? If any moisture gets in there it's going to swell...

02-02-2010, 07:06 AM
looks tits chris!!!! congrats!!!

02-02-2010, 08:00 AM
looks good.
would the tank not sit any lower? looks like it is up on 2" blocks?

how high and low can it go?
any pics of the suspension end of it?

02-02-2010, 02:50 PM
That spare tire well setup looks really cleanly done and maintenence friendly. Great job man, car looks fantastic.

02-02-2010, 03:07 PM
awesome, looks good! [up]

02-02-2010, 03:12 PM
Tank is on 2" blocks cut in half. It wouldn't sit completely in the spare tire well because of the shape of the hump in the middle.

My camera broke the night after we finished the management stuff so I didn't get any pics of the suspension stuff. Santi did and hopefully he'll e-mail them to me soon.

Thanks Felipe and Kevin!

I am gonna carpet the trunk I just have to go and find some stuff that is close to OEM walmart stopped carrying the black trunk carpet I was gonna get. No water should get back there unless I get the car under water or have a leak in the trunk.

Wheels are dulpi-color rattle can, the color is called "almond"

Here is a better pic...well kind of its from an iPhone but it portrays the color better.

02-09-2010, 07:08 PM
I'm looking forward to new pics :)

02-10-2010, 06:59 AM
How about some pics of how high you can go? Looking into this but would like to see if I could raise it up as well for inclement weather... The 40" we got here is def not a deciding factor...

02-10-2010, 04:28 PM
hey pirate can you put up a list of the parts you used? i'm trying to go a similar route but can't find anything to fit the rears for a quattro. nice jobs on the uber clean setup though

02-11-2010, 04:44 PM
hiwords: My car is fwd. I used mk3 rear struts.

2001A4Quattro: The car will go up to stock height easily, you could even go higher but its not recommended, the bags are only rated for 120psi which is pretty freakin high but Santi said he wouldn't go over 100psi just to be safe. I'll snap some photos with it lifted this weekend.

Crap pics I took the other night. It was cold as balls and I'm from Florida so I'm not used to 45 degree weather :(

I got some stuff to trim up so I can get it a little lower. I'm also looking for 10mm spacers if anyone has some for sale.

I've got 20mm spacers for sale PM for price.

02-12-2010, 10:59 PM
Needs more low haha.

Yea son. [drive]

I firmly believe b5's and air are a perfect match.

Really? I strongly disagree.

The rears(quattro) are really awkward and pretty difficult to get something to bolt on and work 100% successfully. There is a hump in the spare tire well that is a pain in the ass to fully utilize a clean install. There is nowhere to put gauges. Last but not least the front suspension and specifically upper control arms are far from airride friendly.

There is a reason there is only like 3 people with bagged b5's. [wrench]

Mk5's and air are a perfect match haha. Totally install friendly all around.

02-13-2010, 06:58 AM
Everything he said is true. Hahaha but its still fun as hell!
