Coming from a previously modified, slammed, and rattling car, I've come to love moving into adulthood with the finer qualities of the A4. I even got a new set of tires sooner than I had to so I could cut down the road noise. Now... I'm so set on the car being tight and sound (pun), but I seem to hear 'something' other than the regular wind & tire noise. I've come to the conclusion that it must be the drivetrain?

(The wheels bearings are good btw)

The drivetrain in my B6 is quiet. Almost nonexistent. The engine has a little whine to it though at high rpms. Well, it did, until the full 2.5in exhaust went on. Now it sounds the way it should.

I've owned Quattro A4s for a cumulative total of 4 years (3 years in a B5 and 1 year in a B7) and can't say I've ever hear a noise that I've attributed to the drivetrain. I'm not sure what about it would make noise really. It doesn't have a transfer case or anything like that.
