I know it is cold out right now but this car has the noisiest brakes of any other car I have ever had...including my STi with slotted rotors and aggressive pads. It only makes noise under light braking and low speeds but it gets annoying comming from a "luxury" car.

The brakes have plenty of life left in them (I got the car CPO just a couple weeks ago and noted all the wear items, brakes were well less than half worn). Any thoughts?

These brakes squeak. Get used to it. Mine have since day 1. Only fix I've heard of is to go with an aftermarket pad, like the Hawk HPS.

Okay, so its normal...I will probably go with the hawk HPS when these wear out. I have used them in the past for AutoX and was impressed.

these cars have without question, the squeekiest brakes i've ever heard...ever...heard...squeek squeek...squeekiest.

really friggin' annoying.

unfortunately, don't count on changing pads making much difference.

Stock pads are the squeakiest and have the most dust than any car I've ever owned. I've had 8+ year old cars when breaks better than the A4.

They are not that dusty...just noisy.

Mine are fine....[confused] I had squeak at one point when they were new, but that's gone. Sometimes rocks can get caught between the pad and rotor, and get embedded into the actual brake pad from a certain angle (from the direction the wheel is spinning at the time).

I've heard you can pop the rock out if you find an open parking lot, start at one end pointed backwards, and accelerate in reverse to a decent speed. Once you're going at least above 10, apply the brakes pretty firmly. Don't slam on them violently, just be firm and quick. Sometimes, the wheel spinning in the opposite direction can pop a rock out. The stock pads are VERY soft, and could be susceptible to this in really any climate/driving conditions. It's worth a try, at least.

Mine squeak off and on. It's the dust I hate.. Hawk HPS when I need new ones.

Yeah, I was surprised at the oem pads. My very first mod to the car were quiet and low dust pads, so glad I did!

Worst brake dust of any car or pads I've ever owned, and Audi used cheap braking components. Cars of this caliber shouldn't have such cheap noisy brakes.

Gladly mine hasn't started to squeak yet. (knock on wood) but I plan to use Hawk HPS pads once these are gone.

Try bedding them in again, or upgrade to the HPS (http://www.europaparts.com/hawk-perfomance-hps-brake-pads-front-hb538f-760.html).

my brakes starting sqeaking not too long ago. Just checked the other day and they still have a lot of life. Will try Hawk pads once these wear out.

Speaking of brakes, anyone here running Adams rotors?? Thinking of picking up a set once these pads wear down.

Really? What pads are you using? I changed to Hawk ceramics and left the squeaking and dusting in the trash with the stock pads. [:D] I've put on 20k miles since I installed the Hawk pads so I think the results are legitimate.

on my b6 i had tried a different pad and it didn't really do much to stop the squeaking.

maybe i'll try the hawk pads.

believe me, if the squeaking stops i'd be happy.

its probably the rock salt from the roads... mine only squeak when they put down salt.

There is a ton of salt on our roads in PA and to think of it i never noticed it until a good salting...

That has a lot of suggestions/info about aftermarket pads etc...

I put ceramic's on the front awhile back and all of my sqeeking/dusting stopped. I've had no problems since I put those one (maybe about 10k miles ago). I didn't do Hawks as I intended, but the ones I got seem decent. Prior to switching to ceramic they squeeeeked like no tomorrow and my wheels looked black within a couple days of washing.

+1 to bedding the brakes again. It works for a lot of people, but it's only a temporary solution, the squeaking will inevitably come back

I will have to give it a try...

my jeep srt-8 started to squeak. i took it to the dealer and they said that the squeaking subsequently comes from dust in the brakes, so get that checked out.

I heard best thing to do is powerwash the brakes when you are washing your car to get all the dust and whatever crap out of there.

How about pulling up to a nice restaurant with a bunch of beautiful women eating at the table outside and getting their attention with a loud/long/annoying "SQUEEEEEEEEK." [=(]

Agreed. Lack of quality materials in a brake pad = excessive dust
