I get out the gym last night in Astoria and I start the car and the red AIRBAG warning light wouldn't come off. I figured I'd pull my key out a couple times and the issue would resolve itself, but it hasn't.
NYC is home to the worst parkers, is it possible that someone could have hit me while I was parked and triggered the sensor? I don't see any evidence of damage at all though.
Help me out. It may sound silly, but I was paranoid the whole drive to work thinking that maybe I'd hit a pot hole and the airbags would finally deploy in my face. [:|]

I don't have any knowledge about your model, but my B5 S4 had the airbag light come on and stay on. My tuner told me that the module went bad. I replaced the module and no more issue. It's possible that the module just went bad, it happened a bit on the b5 s4's not sure if they use the same module or a different one.

look under ur seats, most likely the the yellow plug has come un-plugged, thats the sensor for the seats, check both seats first, if its not that, than take it to the dealer or someone who has a vag, so u can see what sensor is off

I had a strange air bag light with my car where if someone was sitting in the back seat the light would come on. Turned out it was a rear seat belt sensor.

I had a similar thing happen. When I would accelerate kind of hard, the airbag light would always come on and wouldn't turn off until I turned the car off. I took it to the dealer and they said that the module in the rear and the passenger seats were broken. Fixed under warranty and I got to drive a 2010 A4 Avant for a week.

It's probably a sensor issue. Don't worry, the airbag won't fire prematurely. Just take it to the dealer so they can replace the sensor or airbag itself.

Check the cables under the seats.Don't be afraid. When the light is on, one or more airbags will not trigger.

So with this light a dealer or anyone with VAG COM can plug in and read where the fault is coming from? I had my car at the dealer today, all they said was your bag light is on.. I said yea thats been on for a while what does it mean.. They basically said idk it wont blow in your face though, but also may not go off in an accident..wish the bastards would have just scanned it for me.. [:(]

idk if it will go into detail at tell u what exact sensor that went off, but what ive heard is that with the light on all airbags r off, but no one has tested it yet, thank god, and knock on wood, but its something that i would get checked out
I had the same thing and when the dealer checked it, they stated there was service notice issued for the connection underneath the driver seat.
Yet, it wasn't a recall and they wanted out of pocket money to fix it (I'm out of my service contract).
I had the light reset while there and it hasn't come back on since.

I'm out of warranty, way out of warranty. Glad it won't explode in face... I drove with the seat all the way back just now before I read your replies. I almost wore a helmet. :(
