they scanned it and it came up ecu failure.. so they said they are going to have to put a new ecu in.... at first people told me it was my maf sensor. I was getting esp and epc lights and it would not go above 1 thousand rpms.. it would just stay at 1 thousand rpms with the pedal mashed to the ground in first gear.. putt putt putting away [:/]

Wow. At least it rolled over! My buddy had a Jetta that wouldn't even turn on.

I had the ECU go out in my Jetta. Had to buy a new one out of pocket, but REVO hooked me up with a new free tune for it since I had already payed once!

i had the ecu on my old 2000 honda accord go out back in the day. dealer wanted $1000+ to fix it (out of warranty). fortunately i found a $150 ecu at a junk yard and replaced it myself.
dealer had no idea why it went out.

I did. I Was just driving along and everything shut off. Wouldn't crank. Had it towed in and they said the ECU was bad, and since I was flashed, it wouldn't be covered. I explained that an ECU (hardware) failure would have nothing to do with the software installed. Eventually, they decided to cover it out of their "special case" funds. Whatever that means. The very next day, it died again. This time, they said it was the MAF and cause I had a K&N, the oil from the K&N caused it to fail. I tried to explain that the oil wouldn't cause it to fail, it would cause an error and the car wouldn't run as it's supposed to, not shut off completely and not start. They said it was blowing the ECU fuse...they had to replace the whole MAF. Ok...I have no idea how that's possible. I told them to eff off and I took the car myself. Cleaned the MAF and have yet to have any issues. That was 3 months ago.
