Hey guys just had a quick question about the 034 TIH, Im pretty sure some of you guys have it installed on your car but I wanted to ask if it made any performance difference, because since it is a little bigger than the stock one and has an increased air flow, does it make any noticeable difference and is it actually better for our cars? Thanks a lot.

im pretty sure theres no noticeable gain, if anything it increases durability.
It's made for better wider flow.
As for my experience, not much. I've had evoms intake installed first with stock hose, then got the 034 hose. Car's accelerating sound got little bit deeper.
If you want performnace, go ecu!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply, so it is actually better since its wider and draws more air :D

Its smoother, rather than the ribs that are in the stock one. I would say the air flow in is less turbulent, but no noticeable gains, more of a reliability upgrade.

i dont think any intake will make a noticeable gain
If you have any change to spend more money, try ghost squad garage's turbo inlet hose.

thats a waste of money... it's the same thing as the 034 inlet pipe except its made from aluminum instead of silicone
if he is flexible on money :)

unless his stock hose collapsed, its a waste of money.
your not getting any gains, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

all i got was sore forearms from trying to yank off the stock hose and a little more turbo whine while accelerating. fair trade [:D]

I have the 034 and like it. It did feel like throttle response improved after the install but it might just be in my head [confused]

well I finished installing the turbo inlet hose and I have to say I like it. I notice the turbo spools a little easier. I also hear the turbo a lot more when I shift. I have to say it was worth the money.
thanks 034 motorsports.

The sounds that I could make with my 1.8t Jetta tiptronic were amazing. I made a group of girls on the side of the road scream and jump once it was so loud. I could literally scare people with it. Both transmissions are very loud, but they make different sounds. I miss the fluttering PSSSHHH-PSsshhh-pssshh sound from my tip, but wouldn't trade my manual for the world. I also had a "true" CAI on the Jetta, though. Big difference in sound.

An intake or Turbo Inlet Hose won't make the turbo spool any faster. It really won't produce noticeable gains. What it does do is make more noise, which is often perceived as quicker spool or more power. If your stock hose is collapsing, then you may experience a 'gain', but its more of a recovery of power being lost due to a collapsing hose. If you want quicker spool you need to open up the exhaust, exhaust gases are what spool the turbine which spins the compressor wheel.
Ultimately I'd say the Turbo Inlet Hose is worth it though since its not expensive, less prone to collapsing, and lets you hear the turbo more.
