They had it for a few days ,and cant figure it out, its DRIVING THEM CRAZY!!! heres the situation
The gas tank is NOT VENTING. When I drive the car, the tank is collapsing in. Same effect you get from drinking a "juicebox" When i go and twist off the gas cap, its sucks in a ton of air and i can literally hear the gas tank EXPANDING back to its normal size!!!
But also, when i try to fill my car up, i cant. The pressure is trying to escape through the neck where im putting gas in. So therefore the gas handle keeps clicking and it takes FOREVER to fill my car up.
So in the end, FRESH AIR is not able to be sucked in from the outside, and air inside is not venting to the outside!!!
The privately owned shop that worked on my car has said they have done everything they can possibly think of. Blew out all lines, checked my EVAP system.
So my solution to that was just to drive around with my gas cap loosened. Its a temporary fix and has worked, but its not right.
What else should be looked out??
BTW, dealer is last resort considering the car has 95k on it and way out of warranty ha
Thanks for help in providing any if info!!

Well my first thought is, what is the status of your EVAP system?
Edited: I see you already some what mentioned that... but still it may warrant more testing.

^ He makes a good point.
I don't know why they didn't take the time to drop your gas tank. If they did, it
would have been much easier to look at the problem at hand. My opinion, an
issue like that requires one to drop the gas tanks, then do the pressure
test....Are they a lazy shop?

thats a simple fix, Theres a valve in the filler neck, Theres a one way roll over valve and a spider valve (because the way it looks), one of those valves need to be checked. Also your carbon canister could be saturated with fuel. But that would not cause a collapse. That would only trigger gas pumps to click off every few seconds. Good luck

its going to end up being something like a cannister close valve. wasp and spiders can get in the vent and build nests which clog the vent up..

Its not that the shop is lazy about dropping the tank, that is just their last resort....the subframe, and driveshaft all needs to be dropped in order to take the gas tank out!! its crazy.

i agree... def one of the vents is clogged/blocked with some sort of debris

sounds like one of the valves is stuck for reasons already mentioned above... I've also heard of this happening to a buddy with another car where he would fuel up at some cheap gas station since he bought the car... unfiltered gas with various deposits built up on the valve preventing it from opening properly. He's not a bright guy so I'm assuming he heard this from the mechanic who root caused the problem.

You know it doesn't take much work or even much time to drop the rear sub-frame/diff correct?

huh thats funny becasue i had the same problem with the gas tank and not being able to fill up the tank without the handle clicking off a lot...it fixed itself i guess because it happened for a couple weeks and never came back since...

Does anyone know where to find that DIY for dropping the fuel tank? Thinking about doing this myself cause I've been having the same problem as the op. I remember seeing a DIY a few months ago, but havent been able to find it since.

Dude, this is a 9 year old thread. Most of these guys haven’t posted in this sub forum in years.
The OP hasn’t made a post on Audizine since 2014 😀
